My goal is to provide services catered to adult and adolescent communities dealing with trauma and depression among other mental health issues. My true passion for mental health stems from wanting to be an advocate for others and helping them find coping skills that best serve their needs. My populations of interest include individuals, couples, and adolescents. My style of therapy would utilize methods such as mindfulness, person-centered theory, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral theory. Practice Information: Health in Mind was founded in 2011 as a massage therapy company and today is one of the most leading outpatient private practice in RVA offering therapy services ranging from individual to family. Welcome! I support individuals, couples, and those in ENM/poly relationships of all backgrounds in building meaningful lives by providing a safe space to explore identity, tend to past wounds, practice new ways of relating to themselves and others, and overcome barriers to authenticity—such as social pressure, anxiety, or trauma. I’m particularly passionate about supporting clients in reclaiming their sexual wellness and intimacy through honest, courageous communication. My approach to therapy—grounded in “parts” work and person-centered care—is warm, affirming, and unapologetically human. As a queer, neurodivergent person of color, I draw from lived experience, training, and community wisdom to create affirming spaces where all parts feel welcome. This helps us focus on developing inner trust, resilience, and skills to “brave the wilderness” in ways that honor your uniqueness rather than fitting you into a box that wasn’t designed for you. If you’re looking for a sincere, collaborative environment for all of you and your relationships, I invite you to email or call me to set up a consultation. I look forward to meeting you and embarking on this journey together!

Clinical Social Work/Therapist
Richmond, VA

I am an LCSW specializing in providing therapy to college-aged folks and twentysomethings. As a twentysomething, you may be struggling with emerging adulthood life transitions & turning points, anxiety, anger, depression, low self-esteem & confidence, family stress, dating relationship/marital stress, trauma, grief & loss, and or career challenges. In our work together, I will seek to create a safe space for you to explore and understand these stressful challenges and turning points in order to build stronger self-esteem, greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, supportive tools, and balanced ways of living. It can be difficult to work through intense feelings and stressful experiences using words alone. Given this common 'road block,' in addition to using traditional talk-based therapies, I frequently integrate use of trauma-informed expressive arts therapies as well as mindfulness into my work with individuals to help them "feel better." Navigating early adulthood stress and transitions during your twenties can feel stressful, isolating, and overwhelming. With warmth, respect, humility, and humor, I am here to help and would be honored to work with you. Email me and we can explore how therapy can be a layer of support for you on your journey to heal, grow, survive, and thrive.

Namaste! My name is Purnima, and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Born and raised in Nepal, and having moved to the U.S. as a teenager, I bring a deeply rooted understanding of what it means to live between worlds — to carry cultural expectations while also navigating personal longing, identity, and healing. My therapeutic work is grounded in the belief that healing is a return to wholeness — not just the relief of symptoms, but a gentle homecoming to your true self. Rooted in the Nepali word “Sampurna,” meaning complete, my approach honors the full human experience: body, mind, spirit, and relationship. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, disconnection, trauma, or relationship struggles, I offer a space that is warm, culturally sensitive, and grounded in compassion. I have experience working with a variety of mental health challenges and theories, including the management of anxiety, depression, and trauma through theories of intersectionality and compassion. I enjoy working with college-aged adults working through identity development, relationship challenges, and the stress of being a college student.

Dana (she/her) is a Resident in Counseling who gets it—whether you're figuring out who you are, dealing with anxiety that won't quit, navigating messy relationships, or just trying to survive the chaos of young adulthood. She works with college students and young adults both in-person and online, specializing in anxiety, depression, identity exploration, life transitions, relationship issues, and trauma (whether it's one big thing or a thousand small ones that add up). Dana's approach? Down-to-earth, judgment-free, and actually helpful. She uses techniques like Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, and ACT—basically tools that help you understand why you do what you do and how to make real changes that stick. As someone who's done her own healing work around childhood trauma and toxic relationships, Dana knows what it's like to feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you're just going through the motions. Whether you're drowning in academic pressure, grieving a loss, dealing with family drama, questioning everything about your life path, or just feeling disconnected from yourself—she creates a space where you can be honest without having to perform or pretend. Dana believes therapy works best when it feels like a collaboration, not a lecture. She'll help you tap into your own strength and intuition to figure out what you actually want—not what everyone else expects.

The people I work with mostly have their shit together but feel like there’s more to life. They are insightful and want more meaning in life. They come in feeling not good enough and battling perfectionism. When working with me, they identify patterns that don’t work for them anymore and learn the skills to overcome them.

Welcome! I'm Gabby. Beginning therapy is a brave step, and I’m here to provide support as you navigate what feels most important in your life. I work with clients who are seeking to make sense of change, manage stress or anxiety, and cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and others. I bring experience from university counseling centers, faculty and staff assistance services, neuropsychological testing, and private practice. My aim is to offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your story and find new ways forward. My approach to therapy is grounded in collaboration, empathy, and respect for each client’s individuality. I draw on evidence-based methods, including cognitive-behavioral techniques, interpersonal therapy, and emotion-focused therapy. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel both understood and encouraged, so I focus on creating a space that feels safe and empowering. In our work together, we’ll examine patterns, practice new skills, and deepen self-awareness to support growth that lasts. My ultimate goal is to offer a setting where you can reflect openly, try out new ways of being, and discover possibilities for a more fulfilling life. At the heart of my work is connection. I strive to create a nonjudgmental space where you can share openly and feel supported just as you are. Therapy with me is a collaborative journey. I believe real growth happens when you feel supported yet also challenged in ways that encourage reflection and change. Together, we’ll set meaningful goals and explore practical steps, both inside and outside of sessions, to help you build clarity, resilience, and a more authentic way of living.
