Hello! My name is Jennifer, and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. Congratulations on taking the first step in improving your emotional wellbeing and I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. My highest priority is to offer empathy, guidance, and support, all while striving to create an inclusive space for all, including BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodiverse individuals. My approach to therapy includes a mixture of approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness to help you navigate issues such as anxiety/stress, grief, depression, and adjusting to life’s challenges. My approach is structured yet adaptable, always tailored to your unique lived experience. I also hold a certification in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) which allows me to help you with acute stress and critical life events. In our first session, you can expect a calm, welcoming space where we will discuss what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand your experiences and together, we can work towards identifying goals that are important to you. My hope is to create a supportive environment so you can leave that first session feeling heard and with a sense of direction. I currently accept the below insurances and am available for private pay. Please visit my website for the most up to date information. You can also email me for a brief consultation. Thank you!

Welcome! I work with people who may be struggling with a variety of different challenges from grieving the loss of a pet, struggling with thoughts of the future in a world that seems to be falling apart, and people struggling with gender identity and sexual orientation. I offer an LGBTQ and neurodivergent-affirming environment. While I pull from gold standard techniques such as EMDR, Brainspotting, ACT, DBT, and CBT-I to address a variety of issues and symptoms, I take a collaborative approach to tailor our work together to best fit your needs. I have over ten years of experience in the mental health field both as a researcher and as a psychotherapist. The first five years of my career was spent at the Montrose Center in Houston, Texas where I worked with the LGBTQ community as a psychotherapist and a case manager. This valuable experience urged me to take my career further by going into private practice where I am honored to work with members of the LGBTQ community as well as those outside it.
Hello there! I know that life can be challenging, and at times, it can feel overwhelming to navigate everything on your own. If you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or simply in need of a space where you can process your thoughts and emotions freely, I want you to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. Therapy isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong” with you—it’s about embracing your story, discovering your strengths, and finding new ways to care for yourself. I’m here to offer warmth, understanding, and compassionate support as we work together toward these things.

Hi, my name is Keaton Soileau, Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (LPC-A), and at Houston OCD and Anxiety, under the supervision of Saharah Shrout, Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, I specialize in helping adolescents and young adults with OCD and anxiety improve their overall quality of life and functioning. My ideal client is simply one that is committed to treatment and willing to work collaboratively towards their own unique goals. I provide individual one on one sessions in person and online, as well as intensive outpatient therapy (multiple or extended sessions per week) for those seeking a higher level of care. Specializing in treating OCD and anxiety disorders, I use gold standard anxiety treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-CBT. I also provide SPACE training to help parents implement symptom-reduction skills for their child's anxiety and OCD. I believe that each individual brings their own unique experiences to counseling and that you are much more than your symptoms, even though it may not seem this way right now. Collaboratively, I will work towards helping you obtain your goals, meet you with genuine care, and help challenge your fears when fear stands in the way of your best quality of life.
You’ve always been the one who holds it together. The friend everyone leans on, the one who keeps the peace, even when you're falling apart inside. You’re kind, thoughtful, and always thinking about how others feel—sometimes to the point of losing sight of what you need. Maybe you grew up in a home where speaking up was risky, or you were labeled as “too much.” Now, in college or early adulthood, you feel lost - constantly second-guessing yourself, unsure who you are outside of relationships or achievements. You want to feel more grounded, confident, and in control of your life—but you’re not sure where to start.
Are you struggling with what you should eat and feeling frustrated by your body? I work with people who are ready to stop feeling anxious and self-critical about their bodies and want to develop an enjoyable relationship with food. I also specialize in helping athletes and performers learn the skills and strategies they need to feel comfortable in their bodies and thrive in their sport or performing art.
Has it been a while since you felt like “yourself”? Are you feeling unsure about what to do next or where to turn for help? Are you feeling burnt out? The truth is, life can be pretty messy. We all have a different life story that has impacted how we think and feel, and at times, our circumstances can be very confusing, painful, and overwhelming. The good news is: whether you are seeking relief from feelings of depression or anxiety, needing support with life balance, adulting, or relationships, or searching for tools to help improve your self-worth, you do not have to do it alone.
I am one of the leading experts in pre-surgical psychological evaluations. I have authored a book titled "Psychological Assessment of Surgical Candidates: Evidence-Based Procedures and Practices" and actively engage in society work associated with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery to advance training and science related to bariatric surgery. My clinical training experiences have largely centered around assessing the intersections of medical/health, psychological, and social aspects of individuals to facilitate successful outcomes in medical settings. With training from some of the leading experts in psychological assessment, I am also proficient in conducting disability/worker's compensation evaluations, pre-employment screening, and general psychodiagnostic evaluations in addition to pre-surgical assessments. I am licensed in the state of Texas (#38086) and hold a PsyPact license to practice in other states. My research focuses on understanding how psychological factors contribute to medical outcomes. I have over 60 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focused on pre-surgical psychological evaluations and their predictive value for various outcomes. I use my research findings to assist patients in managing risk factors before and after surgery to optimize their outcomes. Additionally, I have a keen interest in psychological assessment, particularly in the use and study of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) in both research and practice. I have been recognized by several national organizations with early-career research awards for my contributions to pre-surgical psychological evaluations. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator on novel psychological interventions for Type 2 Diabetes. I also serve as an Associate Editor for two esteemed journals in the field – Psychological Assessment and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases.
I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I obtained both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Tyler. I have over 11 years of experience in nursing working in various fields and with a variety of patient populations. I have experience working with patients needing mental health services both inpatient and outpatient. I am dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with mental health concerns by increasing access to those needing mental health treatment while providing support, compassion, and understanding. I am here for the patient and want to ensure that all his or her needs are met. I have a passion for working in mental health services and genuinely care about each individual. I listen to his or her concerns and history to develop a diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan with the patient. The patients preferences and needs will lead the treatment approach initially and going forward. I include the patient in all aspects of care. Listening to his or her concerns, symptoms, and history is an important starting point in developing a diagnosis. The diagnosis is thoroughly discussed with the patient and I will answer any questions that present. Following the diagnosis, a plan of care is developed with the patients input. Patient preferences for therapy, medication, or both, are included in the treatment plan, and any referrals necessary will be made. Medication, if necessary and agreed upon, will be called in to the patients preferred pharmacy and any remaining questions or concerns will be addressed. A follow-up visit to assess ongoing effectiveness of the treatment plan will be made. At consecutive appointments, any necessary changes to the treatment plan will be made. However, I am available for concerns, questions, or needs that may arise prior to follow-up visits when needed.
