Therapists for college students near Austin, TX
To me, therapy is about meeting you where you are at. We can 'sit in the suck' and commiserate but from there we will build up! This is a collaborative relationship; we are colleagues working towards the same goal. I won’t try to impress you with fancy medical jargon or bore you with a lecture. I am a simple person with humble beginnings. I started my career in healthcare at 17 years old as a CNA (Certified nursing assistant) working nights at a tiny rural hospital. I moved into the Chicago suburbs to continue my education but maintained my CNA certificate by working afternoons and nights at a long-term care facility. I graduated with my Master’s in Social work in 2016 from Aurora University. During my initial years as a social worker I worked in mental health case management and hospice. Two years later I received my Licensed Clinical Social Work for the state of Illinois. Not even a month later in 2019 I moved to North Texas where it took me several more year of training before I received my clinical licensure for Texas. During that time I took several different positions to gain a better understanding of all the kinds of work a social worker is capable of. Those positions were intensive outpatient for mental health and addictions, intake, utilization review for a psychiatric hospital and home health. After gaining clinical licensure in Texas, I concentrated my focus to one on one telehealth with adults while they navigate difficult life changes. When I am not working I enjoy cooking, hiking, competing in dog sports, and tending to my plants and home with my spouse, 7 dogs, and one very old rabbit. I volunteer with the local animal shelter working with animals at risk of euthanasia due to behavior issues or medical concerns and in rescue rehabilitating struggling pets. As a clinician I use aspects of cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavior therapy and am considered person centered. I regularly provide handouts, suggest videos, or give homework to encourage therapeutic thought and action outside of our sessions. I look forward to meeting you and being part of the healing chapter of your story!
I help clients better understand what’s holding them back and develop practical skills that support meaningful, lasting change. What makes my practice unique is a strong emphasis on goal-setting and progress. I work with clients who want more than insight alone, they want to see change reflected in their daily lives and relationships. My approach to therapy is collaborative, intentional, and practical. I believe therapy works best when clients feel actively involved in the process and leave sessions with insight they can apply in real life. Please use my website to book an appointment.

My clients would describe me as easy to talk to, a great listener, honest, and informed. I find great value in creating a foundation of trust and comfortability so my clients can work to meet their therapeutic goals. Counseling is most effective when the client feels accepted and believes the therapist genuinely cares about the topics discussed during session. I specialize in treating young adults, adults, couples, and families. I have over 8 years of experience treating those struggling with depression, trauma-related disorders, anxiety related disorders, mood disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem, suicide/self-harm, and systematic family conflict to include parenting issues.
Hi, I’m Olivia - and I’m here to help you feel more like you again. You might be holding it all together on the outside, but inside, it’s a different story: - Constantly overwhelmed by school, work, or life choices - Feeling like something’s missing, even when you “should” feel fine - Stuck in patterns that leave you unfulfilled or disconnected - Tired of trying to be who everyone else expects you to be If this sounds familiar, you’re not broken - you’re just exhausted from carrying too much for too long! I work with young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, substance use, grief, relationship struggles, trauma, and life transitions. Whether you’re questioning your path, overwhelmed by expectations, or feeling lost in your identity, you don’t have to figure it out alone. In our work together, you’ll have a space to slow down, speak freely, and untangle the emotional weight you’ve been carrying. We’ll explore what’s working, what’s not, and what it might feel like to finally be seen and supported for who you really are. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and rooted in real-life tools you can use outside of therapy. We’ll build emotional resilience, self-trust, and strategies that help you feel grounded in your own life again - and we’ll do it at a pace that feels right for you. A bit about me: I live in Victoria, Texas, and when I’m not in session, you’ll likely find me outside - walking my dog, horseback riding, or finding new trails to explore. I’m also a big fan of discovering hidden gem food spots wherever I go.

You might struggle with a harsh inner critic, where anything less than perfection feels like failure, causing you to question your self-worth. This can lead to persistent feelings of guilt, shame, or inadequacy. The definition of success you inherited may not align with your desires, creating cognitive dissonance and internal conflict. You may have a path you want to follow for your life, but fear disappointing those around you, or you may struggle to define your goals at all. You deserve a therapist who understands your story. Former software engineer turned therapist, I understand pressures of high expectations and stressful environments. As a first-generation immigrant with 8 years in IT, multiple degrees, and clinical experience, I offer a unique cultural and psychological perspective. Together, we'll move beyond perfectionism and negative self-talk to find strength and joy. Our cultures of origin are beautiful, but they have unique challenges. As a South Asian therapist, I empathize deeply with your struggles. I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds, and I love creating a warm and calming environment where you can be confident you will be understood and accepted. Howdy! My name is A.B. and I’m a queer, nonbinary therapist born and raised right here in Texas. Don’t let the folksy exterior fool you: growing up in a small town taught me to treat strangers like family, to uplift and respect the folks around me, and, as my granddad always said, “If you can help ’em, then help ’em.” I’ve brought those values into my therapy work and left the bigotry and systemic oppression behind like the hogwash it is. I practice from a place of cultural humility, guided by the stories, strengths, and values my clients bring to the table. You’re the expert on your life, I’m just here to walk alongside you, bringing the tools I’ve got in my toolbelt to help you navigate whatever’s weighing you down. There’s nothing too big we can’t face together, and I trust that with you in the lead, we can work toward the outcomes you’re hoping for in therapy. I specialize in supporting clients through trauma, grief, mood disorders, LGBTQ+ issues, neurodivergence, identity exploration, crisis recovery, and relationship challenges. I also love working with children and their families around emotional regulation, school and family stress, and communication. I’ve got a soft spot for neurodivergent kids (and adults!) and bring a lot of energy and creativity into that work. In session, I pull from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused, narrative, and collaborative therapies, plus a lot more. So don’t be surprised if I throw in a little art-making, somatic work, or IFS (parts work) now and then. I’m committed to being a lifelong learner, and if something isn’t clicking, I’ll work with you to find what does. I earned my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University in 2023, and before that, I got my B.A. in Theatre Education. So I’m definitely open to getting creative in sessions, though just plain talkin’ is great, too. Outside of therapy, I love baking, storytelling in all its forms (theatre, concerts, poetry slams, and tabletop RPGs), and learning about folks whose lives are different from mine. I also enjoy spending time with my partner and our beloved pets Pip, Charlie, and Winston. If you think I might be the right counselor for you, I’d be honored to meet you. Feel free to email me at ab@vadacounseling.com or schedule a free consultation online.
College can be an exciting time—but it can also bring a lot of pressure, uncertainty, and emotional stress. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, academic stress, identity questions, or relationship challenges, you don’t have to figure it all out on your own. I'm here to offer a space where you can be real, feel heard, and start making sense of everything you're navigating. As a therapist, I work with students who feel overwhelmed, stuck in old patterns, or unsure of who they are or where they're headed. My approach is down-to-earth, supportive, and focused on helping you gain clarity, confidence, and tools that actually work—without judgment or pressure. If you're looking for someone who understands the unique stressors of student life and can help you feel more grounded and in control, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
What if, what if you had a person to help you with reducing the burden of sadness...anxiety...fear... What if, what if you had a person who created a safe, non-judgmental space who could help you move towards positive change in your life. With over 20 years of experience, I have developed a compassionate and informed approach to therapy. My client centered approach integrates culturally informed and evidenced based treatment practices to address your specific needs. Trauma, Relationships, and Family Patterns — Helping You Build Healthier Connections If you’re feeling overwhelmed by past experiences, stuck in relationship patterns, or struggling with communication and connection, you’re not alone. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are navigating trauma, family-of-origin challenges, communication difficulties, cultural differences, and life transitions—and who are ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful change. As a practicum therapist in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Abilene Christian University, I am supervised by Julia Wesley, LMFT-S, and provide therapy in the Frisco and Prosper areas. In our work together, you can expect a supportive, nonjudgmental space where we focus on understanding patterns—how you communicate, how your family-of-origin experiences shape your relationships, and how past experiences may still be impacting you today. I help clients build stronger communication skills, navigate conflict more effectively, and develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships. I am especially passionate about working with those impacted by trauma and helping clients make sense of how their past connects to their present. My approach is grounded in family systems and relational therapy, meaning we look at how your relationships, environment, and experiences all interact. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to understand the bigger picture and create lasting change in the patterns that matter most to you. I strive to provide a culturally sensitive and inclusive space, and I am committed to supporting clients from diverse backgrounds, including those within the LGBTQ+ community. Before entering the therapy field, I worked in leadership and people management, where I developed strong skills in communication, conflict resolution, and supporting individuals through challenges. I bring that real-world experience into the therapy room to help clients apply practical tools in their daily lives. I am also passionate about supporting diverse and underserved communities. My work as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ambassador and ADHD advocate reflects my commitment to creating an inclusive, culturally aware space where clients feel seen, respected, and understood. Reaching out for support can feel like a big step, but you don’t have to do it alone. If you’re ready to begin your healing journey or want to see if we’re a good fit, I invite you to connect.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master's degree in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling from Sam Houston State University. I have experience working with adjudicated youth in residential treatment, inpatient treatment, and at a PHP/IOP eating disorder treatment facility. My specialty areas include trauma, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, communication, and codependency. I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, client-centered perspective and am in alignment with Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating principles that I incorporate into disordered eating and eating disorder treatment. I believe that the therapeutic relationship can be one of the most healing and safe relationships encountered so I strive to meet clients where they're at with empathy and genuineness. I aim to support clients and walk alongside them in their healing journey while highlighting their strengths. I am EMDR trained and enjoy incorporating EMDR into treatment as appropriate. I also utilize techniques and interventions from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP).
