Stephanie is a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and a Certified School Counselor for children in grades K-12. She holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and a Bachelor's of Science degree in Developmental Psychology. Prior to working at Cornerstone Wellness, she was a School Counselor for 12 years in a public-school setting and also spent two years prior to that working as a School Counselor at a Cyber-School. Stephanie did mental health counseling in a private practice setting and worked at the post-secondary level as an Academic Advisor at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh as well. She is very passionate about working with young adults and strongly believes that all people are deserving of love and respect. "In order for positive change to happen, we need to work together as a team to support your goals of achieving happiness, success, balance, and peace. I know that this season of life can come with many challenges but I vow to work closely with you to create a therapeutic plan that we both feel comfortable with". Stephanie's therapeutic approach is centered around a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) model which helps people to understand how their thoughts and emotions affect their behaviors. Her goal is to help her clients learn how to replace their negative thought patterns with more productive ones which will then, in turn, change their behaviors. She knows that teaching people how to shift their mindsets and how to discover new ways of thinking will help them to respond differently to life's stressors and ultimately improve their overall well-being. Stephanie understands that counseling can seem "scary" at first but prides herself on making sessions collaborative and relaxed. She wants therapy to be a safe place where her clients can feel comfortable to just be themselves! "I truly love what I do and I see it as a privilege to witness the change and growth that can happen for my clients as they move through therapy. With that being said, I hope to become a person that they trust and look forward to spending time with."
Sometimes life feels big and fast, and really painful. You might be going through a major transition, dealing with a loss, or coping with intense stress. Whatever the cause, you’re left with the sense that things just aren’t right. Overwhelming as things feel, inside of you, there’s also wisdom and a great capacity to understand and heal what hurts, so that you feel more peace internally and experience more enjoyment as you navigate challenges, losses, stress–whatever life puts in your path. Together, our work will be to find and nourish the wisdom and ability that's already within you. I meet you with openness to all the parts of you, whether they’re critical or criticized, anxious or calm, heavy with sadness or energetic and driven. We work to access and open up the gifts these parts hold and to connect with the core you that’s so full of wisdom and vigor. Life slows down. Healing begins. And a brighter, clearer path opens up before you.

Hello! This is Dr. Lavanya Devdas, woman of color, immigrant, and a licensed psychologist in PA. I am also certified by the mindfulness meditation teacher training program under Dr. Jack Kornfield and Dr. Tara Brach. I recently completed a two year training program, The Three Doors, a Tibetan based meditation program from which I incorporate somatic based and meditation techniques. Existential concerns from anxiety, work-life balance, stress to relational challenges, isolation, intersecting identities conflict and low mood are common experiences of human nature; simultaneously, when we are grappling with the uncertainty of the socio-political climate, and adjustment to life transitions, and collective biases, it is challenging to regulate anxious and depressed mood, social isolation, stress and cultural adjustment related challenges. It affects who we are, our thought patterns, feelings, and the way we understand and respond to the environment. We are not alone, and you do not have to do this alone. I offer relational therapy through a collaborative therapeutic relationship with a striving for you to feel seen and heard in a safe, genuine therapeutic milieu. My authenticity as your therapist includes integrating culturally sensitive therapy such as mindfulness based cognitive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and client centered therapy in providing immediate feedback, using mindfulness based strategies and concrete, specific tools based on your strengths, as your coping repertoire. I work with college students and adults who are navigating stress, anxiety, academic pressures, relationships, and life transitions. I take a collaborative and supportive approach, tailoring therapy to each person’s unique needs and goals. Some clients choose to explore EMDR, and I’m trained to use it when it fits, but many find our sessions helpful through conversation, reflection, and practical coping strategies. I aim to create a space where students feel understood and empowered, whether you’re struggling with burnout, uncertainty about the future, or past experiences that continue to affect your life. I accept BCBS of Michigan and BCN and offer telehealth sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays to make therapy accessible and easy to fit into a busy schedule.
I feel the most important aspect of counseling is the relationship between the counselor and client. If we are able to create a genuine relationship that is grounded in authenticity and trust, we can further your understanding of yourself, your experiences, and how you engage with the world. I aim to help people by cultivating a safe environment where thoughts and emotions can be deeply felt, and where we can discover what steps you can take in your life that better align with your values. Through counseling, we can learn how to acknowledge thoughts, feelings, and past experiences without having them overwhelm or define us. I believe that the present is the most important time to be in; however, many things from the past (or even the future) can hold us back from experiencing what is going on around us. When we are able to process our past and our future, we are finally able to connect with the current moment we are living in. I have worked with people experiencing different challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, interpersonal stress, and identity/self-esteem issues. Ultimately, I am passionate about working with anyone who feels “stuck” and wants to find meaning in their life. Moving forward is possible, no matter how long you have felt stagnant.
Our areas of expertise include parenting challenges, attention and focus difficulties (including ADHD), anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), depression, couples and marriage counseling, and issues related to retirement and life transitions. We take a goal-oriented, solution-focused approach, working collaboratively with clients to develop practical strategies that foster growth and well-being.
