I am a versatile, dedicated clinician who is passionate about helping you uncover your true self, and pull back the layers that have gotten in the way. If you are feeling emotionally out-of-control, overwhelmed or plagued by your past, allow me to walk alongside you as we come up with a solution together. I often use an individualized, eclectic approach incorporating concepts from various modalities. I will meet you wherever you are without judgment. Sometimes, we are in need of support, or a nudge in the right direction. It may be hard to know what we need. It would be my honor to help if you can relate to any of the above. My clinical background spans over 16 years and includes work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient mental health settings (teens and adults). At my core, I am a humanistic therapist. Although I am versatile, I do hold certifications in both DBT and trauma-informed care. I'm happy to work with individuals ages 14+, as well as couples. If any of this resonates, please reach out today by phone or email. Our dedicated staff at Seasons of Hope and Healing are happy to assist. I have immediate openings for daytime sessions both virtually (statewide) or in Warren. There is a 2-3 week wait for evening sessions at this time. Providing therapy is truly my passion and I am happy to help!
I received my master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Bryn Mawr College in 1995, and have been a therapist since that time. I have been in private practice in State College since 2006. My approach to therapy is diverse; I tend to practice from primarily interpersonal and psychodynamic perspectives, although I also draw from cognitive-behavioral paradigms. I see my role as provider of a safe and supportive environment in which to help individuals become more aware of the multiple aspects of themselves. A main component of the therapy consists of understanding how each person’s ‘story’ impacts who they are, and affects the difficulties they presently face. Clients are encouraged to consider their readiness for change as well as options for change that are both meaningful and realistic to them.

You could work on developing more effective problem solving strategies. It can aid you in enhancing communication, social, and coping skills. Hi! I'm Heather, and I work with trauma survivors, high achievers, and people with lots of anxiety. While I work with all kinds of trauma, my most significant experience is at the intersections of religious trauma and LGBTQ+ identities, and/or high intelligence. I like working with people who want to understand why they do the things they do, or who already know but can't seem to stop doing them.
I use hypnotherapy as a means to help people heal from the inside out. After spending 20 years practicing as a physician healing patient's bodies, I now focus on the mind and mental health. Every human has the responsibility and the ability to love and care for themselves as much as they care for others in the world. Good mental health is the key to good physical health and to living a full, engaging life. I help people who suffer from negative self-talk, negative self-image and teach people how to find their true selves beneath all the distracting chatter that tends to go on in our heads. Inner freedom therapy's technique works well for anxiety or physical symptoms or pain that worsens at times of stress. It also works well to help you stop unwanted habits. I offer a free consultation and discussion with a link on my website, or give me a call or email to meet and discuss if you are a good match for Inner Freedom Therapy programs.

I’m a health psychologist who helps people break the cycle between life stress and physical health problems. Stress, burnout, and emotional strain can lead to poor sleep, weight gain, high blood pressure, and difficulty managing conditions like diabetes or chronic illness. At the same time, health issues can affect your mood, relationships, motivation, and daily habits. I use evidence-based approaches — including CBT, ACT, and motivational interviewing — to help people shift unhelpful thought patterns, manage emotions, and make sustainable changes in how they care for themselves. Whether you're navigating a new diagnosis or struggling to stick with a health plan, I work collaboratively to create a personalized strategy that fits your real life. My goal is to help patients feel more in control of their health and well-being — not just physically, but emotionally and behaviorally.

College can be a time of fun and excitement, but it can also be a time of stress and anxiety. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist here at Village Therapy Practice, LLC who works hard to help clients (individuals, couples, and families) feel heard, understood, and validated. Using a systemic approach, I help each of my clients identify the underlying root cause of their struggles- such as depression, anxiety, adjustment, or relationship issues- and work to change the unhealthy patterns that keep them stuck in conflict. As a Penn State graduate myself (We Are!), I would love the opportunity to walk along students through this important journey!
Therapy is more about building new associations, making new, healthier default pathways. It is almost as if therapy is taking your two-lane dirt road and building a four-lane freeway alongside it. The old road stays, but you don’t use it much anymore. Therapy is building a better alternative, a new default. And that takes repetition, and time, honestly, it works best if someone understands how the brain changes. This is why understanding how trauma impacts our health is essential for everyone.” ~ Dr. Bruce Perry I am a licensed professional counselor with over 10 years of experience in various mental health settings such as Outpatient facilities, Inpatient hospitals, Crisis Center, but mainly in public and private alternative school settings. I have served children, adolescents/teens as well as adults. My expertise is in treating clients with ADHD, ODD, depression, mood disorders, stress and anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, coping with grief and loss, loss of motivation, self-esteem and confidence. I also hold a Trauma-Informed certification as well as NMT (Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics) certification where I specialize in helping clients utilize various tools to regulate certain regions of the brain. I utilize various therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Support Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Reality Therapy, Person Centered Therapy and Social Skills Training. I believe in incorporating different therapies according to client’s treatment plan and goals. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.
