Therapists for college students near Old Zionsville, PA
Do you experience hypervigilance? panic? overwhelm? avoidance? unexplained physical symptoms? Many of my clients didn't realize that their symptoms of anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and relationship struggles stem from trauma. Trauma isn't just something soldiers experience — it encompasses so many different life experiences. I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to get at the root of your symptoms, rather than putting a bandaid on them for a temporary fix. I'm trained in EMDR 2.0 and the Four Blinks Flash technique, and I use advanced EMDR software to work effectively with clients online. I also offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for clients ready to go deeper when talk therapy has reached its limits, along with Internal Family Systems (IFS) and ADHD-informed therapy. I've worked extensively with people in the LGBTQ+ community. If you're interested in working together, reach out to schedule a free 15-minute consultation — we can decide if we're a good fit. You are making an amazing and brave step in your healing journey!
Welcome! Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so I strive to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and truly understood. Every person who walks into therapy is different, and I honor that. I work with teens, adults, and older adults navigating life’s challenges—whether it’s managing anxiety, coping with change, building confidence, or simply wanting to feel more like yourself again. Some of my clients are high performers or athletes; others are just trying to manage daily stress, relationships, or emotional overwhelm. No matter your story, I tailor therapy to fit your unique needs—drawing from approaches like CBT and strengths-based strategies. I’m passionate about this work because I’ve seen how mental health impacts every part of life—from performance and relationships to life transitions and confidence. As a former West Chester University Division II athlete, I understand firsthand the mental load that comes with high performance, pressure, and pushing through—even when you’re not okay. That lived experience helps me support clients who are navigating high expectations, both in sport and in life. In our sessions, you can expect a collaborative, nonjudgmental space where I get to know you and your goals. I believe therapy works best when it’s a team effort. Together, we’ll explore what’s working, what’s getting in the way, and what needs to shift. My style is a blend of warmth, honesty, and gentle challenge. I’ll always meet you where you are, but I’m not afraid to help you look at patterns that may be holding you back. Whether you need space to process, a sounding board for decision-making, or someone to help connect the dots—I’m here to listen deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and offer honest feedback to help you make meaningful progress. If you’re ready to prioritize your well-being—whether as an individual or an athlete—I’d be honored to support you on that journey!
“The path isn’t a straight line; it’s a spiral. You continually come back to things you thought you understood and see deeper truths.” ~ Barry H. Gillespie My approach is holistic, somatic, compassionate, and collaborative. Somatic psychotherapy allows you to get to the root of your concerns. While traditional talk therapy can be helpful, therapists and healers are realizing the importance of including the body into the therapy process. By blending somatic practices based in the Hatha yoga tradition, you will come to a better understanding of how to regulate your nervous system, and therefore find relief, ease, and strength. As a LGBTQIA+ affirming therapist, I am deeply passionate about working with clients who are a part of the community. My specialties include: addiction, trauma/C-PTSD, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, ecological despair/anxiety, religious trauma, Women’s issues, HSP (highly sensitive persons), and bipolar/borderline. I also offer outdoor ecotherapy as a way to deeper connect to yourself and the natural world.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Newtown, PA, certified in trauma. I am passionate about supporting adults and teens who are struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, sadness, loneliness, disconnection, panic attacks, or overwhelming stress. I also work with couples who want to strengthen their bond or work through challenging conflicts. My mission is to provide a warm and understanding space where clients can find the tools they need to move forward in a healthy and fulfilling way. I specialize in trauma therapy because I know how deeply it can affect every part of a person's life. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices, I help individuals explore how trauma shapes their thoughts and behaviors. Together, we work on grounding and coping techniques that foster resilience, empowering clients to regain a sense of control and safety. My approach is about more than just managing symptoms—it's about helping clients develop healthier, more positive ways of thinking and living. I support them in recognizing and changing negative thought patterns, building coping skills that encourage self-compassion, and fostering deeper connections to themselves and others. I believe in working collaboratively, setting clear and achievable mental health goals, and guiding clients toward lasting change and personal growth. Sessions are usually 50 minutes long, but if you feel like you've shared everything and are ready to conclude, we'll end the session when it feels right for you. Therapy is about your needs and pace, but as your therapist, I will guide and support you throughout the process. I offer both weekly and biweekly appointments, depending on what best suits your journey. The environment I create is warm, empathic, and caring—ensuring you feel safe, understood, and supported as we work together toward your goals. I also offer telehealth therapy, so you can access support from the comfort of your own space.

Many of my patients are people with multicultural/multiracial families and relationships, immigrants or the adult children of immigrants, people of Asian descent, graduate students, clinicians, or people who still feel empty and unsatisfied after achieving conventional hallmarks of success. Many have experienced shifts in class and/or religious identity who are looking to more deeply understand how their experience of depression, anxiety, or trauma is tied to these transgenerational and cross-cultural forces. With empathy and care, I will partner with you to explore your life, history, culture(s), and the wider world to see how these shape your inner experiences and relationships. In addition to feeling better, my hope is to help you to discover and create new ways of being in the world that feel more alive, flexible, authentic, resilient, and effective. Many people have mixed feelings about starting therapy and finding the right fit is so important for meaningful and long-lasting changes. Having worked as a college success counselor, career coach, and academic coach, I can help college students with a variety of common concerns that they often bring into therapy. I have a great deal of experience working with college-aged clients from a wide variety of backgrounds. I specialize in working with adults struggling with self-acceptance, gender expression, sexual identity, and relationship difficulties, as well as depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions. I approach therapeutic work with a focus on developing a caring, honest, accepting, and unique counseling relationship with each client. I encourage clients to develop a strong curiosity about their internal emotional worlds, while empowering them to find the strength and self-compassion within themselves to delve deeply into therapeutic work.
I received my M.S. In Counseling from Villanova University and pursued doctoral studies at Immaculata University. In 1994 I became a licensed psychologist and opened my own private practice in Wayne, PA. I have been an adjunct professor at Chestnut Hill College in their graduate psychology department. I completed advanced studies in Jungian psychology at the C. G. Jung Institute in Philadelphia. In 1997 I became a certified Imago Relationship therapist where my goal was to assist couples in having more conscious, loving and intimate relationships. Central to my work is a powerful self-discovery tool … the Enneagram in which I received training in 2001. I use it extensively with clients as well as outside groups where I give presentations and teach classes on the Enneagram including volunteer teaching of the Enneagram at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. In 2014 I received my certification in coaching through the Coaches Training Institute. I since have developed a coaching practice to complement the work I do in the therapeutic and counseling areas. In addition, I also give presentations and talks for married couples, parent associations, support groups, and health and wellness audiences.
Welcome to Encourage-ment Counseling for Connection, Healing, and Change At Encourage-ment, we help individuals and couples find hope, strength, and clarity through compassionate, expert care. Our practice specializes in three key areas: couples counseling, gambling addiction recovery, and trauma-informed therapy. Life can present challenges that feel isolating and overwhelming. Whether you're struggling in your relationship, battling the cycle of gambling, or working through the impact of trauma, we’re here to walk with you—at your pace, with respect and empathy. **Our Areas of Focus:** * **Couples Counseling** We support couples facing conflict, communication challenges, trust issues, or emotional disconnection. Our work centers on helping partners rebuild connection, improve understanding, and create stronger, healthier relationships. In addition to resolving immediate relational concerns, we help couples navigate the natural seasons of life—including marriage, career changes, aging, and loss. We also provide support for parenting challenges, helping couples stay united as they raise children, balance responsibilities, and manage stress. Whether you're new in your relationship or decades in, our goal is to help you grow together with resilience and compassion. * **Gambling Addiction Recovery** Gambling struggles can feel hidden and difficult to talk about. We provide a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore the emotional roots of gambling, develop healthier coping strategies, and rebuild your sense of control. In our work together, we focus on practical tools such as budgeting, financial planning, and managing urges to gamble. Just as important, we support clients in rebuilding trust with loved ones, repairing the emotional and relational damage often caused by gambling behavior. Healing includes both personal accountability and restoring connection—and we’re here to guide you through every step of that process. **Trauma-Informed Therapy** Trauma affects how we feel, think, and relate to others. We offer gentle, focused support using evidence-based approaches—including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)—to help clients process distressing memories and sensations in a way that promotes rapid, lasting relief. ART uses guided imagery and eye movements to shift how trauma is stored in the brain, helping clients feel calmer, more in control, and better able to move forward. At Encourage-ment, we believe real healing begins when you feel seen, heard, and encouraged. Whether you're navigating relationship difficulties, addiction recovery, or the effects of trauma, we’re here to help you move forward—one step at a time.
