Many of the people I work with are Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) who are struggling to navigate multiple areas of their life like work, school, family, relationships, or the intersectionalities of their identities. Many talk about often feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or stuck. This then kicks off to what feels like a never ending cycle of confusion, frustration, depression, and anxiety. Therapy is an opportunity to find clarity and work through these obstacles to help people get their life back on track. My clients and I work together to develop more mindful behaviors to help lead a more meaningful and healthy life. People develop certain attitudes and perspectives based on their early life experiences to survive when they were younger. But these attitudes and perspectives are not helping now which is part of the reason why people might feel stuck. By looking at these attitudes and perspectives closely, people can learn to change how they talk to themselves, how they react to their emotions. and take more thoughtful actions to move forward towards a more authentic and fulfilling life. My practice integrates several evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) that encompasses principles of person-centered, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, multiculturalism, and strength-based values. With my compassionate, collaborative, non-judgmental, and down-to-earth style, therapy can address the things that are getting in the way of people’s life so that they can move forward. COMMON EXPERIENCES THAT I WORK WITH PEOPLE ON: - It feels like your mind is playing tricks on you - It feels like your eyes or ears are playing tricks on you - It feels like something odd is going on or hard to explain - Confused at times whether something is real or imaginary - You feel suspicious or mistrustful of others - It feels like you have little control over your thoughts - It feels like others can hear your thoughts or read your mind - Having thoughts or beliefs that you or others find strange - Race-related identity, culture, and intersectionality - Cultural and systemic trauma and oppression

You - feeling overwhelmed, stuck, like the world is on fire and you're supposed to just "cope." You - navigating relationships, friendships, and family, questioning who you are, thinking "what's next?" Sessions with me - a space for you to talk things out, get clarity and confidence, and a better relationship with your self. You show up as you are, and we go from there, without you feeling judged or "therapized" like it's going out of style. (Although that is something I can provide if you really want! We can figure it out as we go, that's kind of the point!) My approach to therapy is relational, which means I believe the trust and connection between therapist and client is paramount to the healing process. I see you as the expert of your life and my role is support and guide you with compassion and curiosity. Together we can explore what's working, what's not, and how you can move forward. I'm especially passionate about supporting women, college students, and LGBTQ+ folks as you navigate the complexities that come with living in today's world. Therapy should be a place of growth, insight, and finding the joy among the hurt. If you're ready to explore and create meaningful change for yourself, I'd love to work with you!
Whether you're struggling with a specific issue or just have the feeling there should be more to life, I can help you explore possibilities for change. My goal is to provide my clients with the knowledge and understanding of how relationships work and how problems can be resolved in the most challenging situations. I believe every person grows from the positive and negative relationships they've been in or are currently in. It is my mission to help clients establish resources and build upon strengths to enhance happiness in every relationship.
Being a human can be hard sometimes. Being overwhelmed and exhausted are normal feelings of being a human. I want to support you through these overwhelming times so you feel less alone. I want to be someone in your corner supporting you! I am Victoria McKnight, a second-year MSW student at Binghamton University and I went into the profession of Social Work to support people in life’s challenges. I am passionate about helping people reach their goals one step at a time! During our sessions together we will focus on what it is that you need that day. We will work together to understand how your thoughts are impacting your feelings and how those feelings can ultimately impact your behavior. We will be working towards improving your skills and tools to help you combat life’s challenges. We will focus on tools and techniques you can practice in your life that will help you with stress, anxiety, and overwhelming feelings. Again I will use a person-centered approach allowing our sessions to be altered to what you need and what works best for you! My therapeutic approach entails a core belief in a strengths-based approach. I believe that each person has strengths that they can tap into, to achieve their therapeutic goals. I also incorporate trauma-informed care as this modality is a broad support approach to how trauma has impacted a person. I always strive to provide clients with a safe, supportive environment in which they can feel seen, heard, and supported. You are the expert in your own life, in your journey and I will do my best to ensure that I support you in this journey. My overall intention is to allow you to feel comfortable in the space we create together. Whatever is going on in your life I want you to be able to bring that to our sessions where we can talk openly about it. I always want you to feel supported and connected to resources surrounding you that you can turn to for support. As I continue my journey as a social worker I hope to be someone who people can look back on their time with and say she provided me with a safe space to work through this crazy journey we call life together. Victoria McKnight is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. Sol Health is a digital health startup that offers $30 therapy sessions for Gen Zs by connecting them to therapist-in-training accruing clinical hours.
From the outside things may seem fine, even when on the inside we feel frustrated, dissatisfied, or lost. It can be hard to put this experience into words which makes it difficult to know how to start feeling better. My approach to therapy is focused on helping you better understand yourself and your struggles so you can take steps towards a life that is nourishing and meaningful for you. I strive to create a warm and supportive environment so we can work together to challenge what you’ve been told about how you’re “supposed” to be and identify the patterns that get in the way of your living the life you want to live. I am a licensed psychologist with expertise in both mental health and sport psychology. At my practice I provide psychotherapy for adults as well as sport psychology services for athletes and teams who want to develop the mental aspects of their performance. Whether I am working with people seeking growth through therapy or with athletes looking for more out of their sport, my favorite part of my job is seeing the transformation that takes place as people start to connect with themselves and trust their best qualities. If you think you would be interested in working with me, please get in touch!
