Hello! Are you finding that college isn't quite what you thought it would be? I get it...it's a tough transition and a steep learning curve. Anxiety, homesickness, some grief, comparison, high expectations, new ways of communicating, living on your own, conflict with roommates, and that might only describe the first semester! There are then decisions to make about your interests, to study abroad or not, where to intern, what organizations and extracurriculars to get involved in, feeling too stretched for time and unable to manage all responsibilities well, the stress of a job or your athletic demands. You don't have to navigate this alone––I can help! I specialize in helping students navigate these issues and more through a lens of self-compassion, skill-building, and a sense of empowerment. These issues are not unique to you and you can learn to build resilience and tools that will help you now and in your future.

At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, we work best with college students who feel overwhelmed, stressed, or uncertain—even if everything looks “fine” on the outside. Many of the students we support are balancing classes, work, family expectations, relationships, and the pressure to figure out their future, all at the same time. You may be experiencing constant stress, anxiety that makes it hard to focus, low confidence, or feeling stuck in your own head. Some students come to us feeling burned out, disconnected, or unsure of who they are becoming. Others are navigating depression, self-esteem challenges, relationship concerns, or major life transitions. If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone—and support is available. Our practice is built on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where students can openly talk about what they’re going through without feeling rushed, labeled, or misunderstood. We focus on meeting you where you are and tailoring care to your individual needs, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. At Taylor’s Touch of Clarity, counseling is a collaborative process. We believe progress happens best when clients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their growth. Our clinicians work alongside students to build practical coping skills, increase emotional awareness, and strengthen confidence in both academic and personal areas of life. Using a client-centered and strengths-based approach, we help students identify their values, recognize their strengths, and develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, mood challenges, and relationship concerns. Our goal is not just to help you get through college, but to support you in building skills and self-understanding that will serve you well beyond it.

About me: I am a licensed psychologist focusing on work with trauma/complex trauma, eating disorder and body image recovery, relationship concerns, LGBTQ+ and polyamory, depression, anxiety, and college-related concerns. I am Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) trained and offer this service virtually for clients as well as a registered yoga teacher and love incorporating yoga foundations into clinical and body work. As a queer, agnostic person looking to challenge diet culture/anti-fatness, racial discrimination, anti-queer and other justice issues, you'll see this perspective play out in our work together. I find working with those both with similar and different identities to be fulfilling and approach each person with curiosity and empowerment. I have a strong interest in and passion for helping individuals explore their intersecting identities and roles and the ways in which they move through and exist in the systems in place in the community and in the world. Education & Training: I am a licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of complex/trauma, eating disorders and body image concerns, LGBTQ+/CNM concerns, religious abuse and deconstruction, and anxiety, depression, and stress. I orient my work with focusing on individual, cultural, and trauma-informed perspectives, with a focus on social justice and a system-oriented perspective. I combine various empirically validated approaches based on need, concerns, and preference, from foundational humanistic and multicultural-feminist frameworks to interpersonal, internal family systems, and/or third-wave approaches (ACT, DBT, or CBT). I specialize in working with the young adult and/or college student population, but enjoy all ages! I enjoy utilizing humor, creative approaches to therapy, and aim to balance support and challenge for personal growth. Personal I am a Hoosier native that fell in love with the Appalachian Mountains during my time in North Carolina and now love my time in the Rockies as well! Healing happens when we feel safe enough to show up exactly as we are. All parts of you are welcome here. I’m not here to change you or fix you. I don’t think you are “broken” or that there's anything "wrong" with you. Together we'll create an accepting + compassionate environment, with respect for your intuition + body's wisdom underlying all that we do. I’m trauma + social justice-informed and view therapy through an intersectional lens (mind, body, environment, culture). During our time together, we’ll likely look at environmental factors (interpersonal, economic, oppression) that create individual/collective stress and trauma. I value equity, consent and boundaries in the therapeutic relationship and strive to create a space that is safe, non-judgmental and accepting. My approach is collaborative + holistic, centering around values of⁣ empathy, connection and deep listening. I’m Internal Family Systems-informed and incorporate somatic + mindfulness-based approaches into sessions. I provide an Autism-affirming perspective in therapy and believe Autism is a genetically-based neurotype, not a medical disorder. "I understand being autistic to be a cultural identity and recognize autistic people as experts on their own culture." (quote from Trauma Geek). Please visit my website for more information. Warmly, River (they/she)

Getting started can be overwhelming. My goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible so we can go at your pace. I specialize in working with clients with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, and addiction. Many of my clients have tried to cope with difficult life changes by pushing their feelings away or finding short-term coping mechanisms that serve as a distraction. My role is to help people listen to and manage their emotions without feeling overwhelmed or ruled by them. Being personally in recovery from alcohol helps me understand and empathize with what you’re going through because I’ve probably been there too. I like to break down clinical approaches to collaboratively determine the best fit for each person’s unique goals. I incorporate elements of neurobiology, cognitive behavioral therapy, and schema work to help people better understand themselves and make meaningful changes in their lives. If you're not sure what you're looking for yet, that's okay! Feel free to reach out to set up an introductory phone call to see if we're a good fit.

I believe everyone deserves a space to process, heal, and experience empathy and validation. Good outcomes in therapy can be expected if you feel the therapist genuinely cares and has your best interest in heart and mind. Your therapist must also have skill, knowledge, and experience with clinically proven therapy techniques. I provide both to you as my client. I offer an integrated approach that includes EMDR, person-centered, CBT, DBT skills, and trauma focused treatment; however, our time together is not limited to these theories of practice. Together, we can explore the barriers that are keeping you from living the life you want.

You are doing the most! If it feels like there is no good news right now, that makes a lot of sense. Maybe you feel like you're tired of talking about what is bothering you and you want to start feeling better. Therapy is a safe place where you can talk about your feelings. This is a judgment-free zone and welcomes all who wish to expand their sense of self. My role is to connect with you so that you can experience your thoughts and feelings in a way that is different from how you do it at home or with your friends. I look forward to meeting you and listening to everything you have to say.

I work with young adults who often look like they have it completely together on the outside, but on the inside are carrying what feels like an impossible weight. You might find yourself stuck in cycles of perfectionism, over-functioning, or constant people-pleasing. You may be navigating grief for the first time, feel like the world is stacked against you and just need a place to feel like you're not alone.

I work with people who think A LOT, like, all the time. You're overwhelmed with...it all. You're the one others come to, but you don't always get the same in return. You're questioning your choices, abilities, relationships. You want to feel more peace, appreciation, connection, and fulfillment. You want to find ways to stop overthinking while continuing to be successful. Balancing relationships, work, family, and fun is complicated. Maybe you need help better understanding yourself or the dynamics in the important relationships in your life. Perhaps you spend too much time and energy worrying. It could be that you feel like things in your life are just out of alignment. If any of this sounds familiar, let's chat to see how we can help you gain the tools you need to restore balance to your life.

Welcome! As a therapist, mom, social worker, and military spouse, my work has been shaped by the unique challenges and rewards that come with being part of this complex community. I understand the intricacies of military life from a deeply personal perspective, and this experience drives my passion for supporting military members and their families. With experience working within the Department of Veterans Affairs, I’ve gained invaluable insight into the struggles many in this community face—post-traumatic stress, relationship challenges, transition issues, and navigating the mental health system. I know how these challenges can impact not only service members but their loved ones as well. Whether you’re a service member working through the emotional toll of your experiences, a spouse seeking support in navigating military life, or a family member looking for an additional outlet, I’m here to provide compassionate, tailored support. My approach is rooted in research-based techniques that are flexible, trauma-informed, and personalized to your unique needs. I’m committed to walking alongside you on your journey toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.
