Therapists for college students near Duke University
I'm passionate about helping individuals live more fulfilling, happier lives every day through their own decisions, on their own terms. I believe that each client is on a unique journey with their own specific needs, and I tailor my approach to be as helpful as possible to each individual person. I work mostly with adults dealing with depression and anxiety, and have done so for 7+ years. For the past 3 years I have also enjoyed working with individuals struggling with fertility, postpartum/perinatal depression/anxiety, miscarriage, and infant loss. As a person-centered clinician I strive to create a safe space for my clients where they can let it all out. Maybe that's working through traumatic events, processing emotions, or just having a big vent. I also help clients set goals, recognize patterns, build self-awareness, learn coping skills, and strategize for success. I believe the most important thing about a therapist and a client is "goodness of fit," so if you think I might be the right fit for you, please reach out to set up a free 15-minute consult call with me!
Have you been resonating with the autistic experience that you're seeing others talk about? Are you suffering from autistic burnout after a lifetime of heavily masking your “real self”? Do you hold yourself to ridiculously high standards, then feel defeated when things don’t go perfectly? Is your connection with others not quite what you pictured it being at this stage in life? Does work completely exhaust you, but you can’t quite find a job that lights you up? I offer Autism evaluations and therapy to adults.
Throughout my life, I have found people to be fascinating as each person has unique stories, values, and beliefs that guide their life. This curiosity of people combined with the belief that each person has intrinsic value and worth led me to the field of counseling. Through using collaborative, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches, I hope to facilitate a healing space where clients can learn how to care for themselves holistically, pursue personal goals, and address mental health concerns, all while feeling accepted for who they are as a person. I completed my clinical internship experience at Appalachian State University’s counseling center during 2023 - 2024 academic year. During this time I developed skills for working with clients facing life transitions, generalized anxiety, social anxiety, depression, spiritual/ religious concerns, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal relationship concerns, low self-confidence, grief and academic distress. My main theoretical approach is person-centered therapy while also using creative, culturally-aware and trauma-informed methods. I have a passion for working with clients who are working through anxiety, depression, academic stress, neurodivergence and life-transitions. Please reach out to set up an appointment today!
Mountains to Sea Counseling offers therapy, education, and consulting with a focus on LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent identities in North Carolina. This is a space where you will be welcomed and affirmed as you make your journey. About Megan: Welcome! I'm so glad you made it here. Taking the first step in seeking out a therapist can be scary and overwhelming. As a non-binary, neurodivergent therapist, I provide an affirming space that allows my clients to accept all parts of themselves, and celebrate their identities. I specialize in working with young adults, including college students and young professionals, who are queer-identified and/or neurodivergent. This might be your first foray into therapy, or maybe you have seen several mental health providers in the past. Maybe you are seeking a diagnosis, or have been given many over the years that don't feel like they make sense or fit. Regardless of where you are coming from, I am committed to working with you in a way that feels individualized and supportive. I love learning about new therapeutic techniques, the nervous system, and exploring new research, but I know that there is no one-size-fits all approach to therapy. The most important thing for me is to offer empathy, validation, and acknowledgement that you are the expert on yourself. I would love to hear from you.
In an increasingly anxious and isolated world, my hope is to cultivate authenticity and compassion through my clinical practice. Developing confidence and gentleness toward ourselves as we grow toward greater congruence between the real and ideal selves.
My approach to therapy centers around the belief that every individual has inherent dignity, and is worthy to be seen, heard, and cared for. Anyone is welcome into my office. Every life experience is unique, and often these experiences can carry specific hurts, pains and sorrows. When life feels overwhelmingly challenging and burdensome, counseling can be a wonderful mechanism to assist in times of need. I believe that peace and joy are possible, and that no story is hopeless, because no story is done being written. As a client, I want you to feel safe and most importantly, listened to. As you get the chance to share your story with me, my goal is to build trust with you and help establish what you'd like to work on. According to your specific wants and needs, we will collaborate together and use a variety of therapeutic approaches to get you to a better place. Whatever season you're in, you don't have to walk it alone. Please don't hesitate to reach out to find what you need during this time.

Hi there! My name is Justice, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate in the State of North Carolina. I was drawn to this profession because of the experiences I have faced in my own life. My passion is working alongside of adolescents, young adults, and new moms as they transition through the seasons of life.. My goal when working with clients is to cultivate a therapeutic relationship by offering an accepting, safe space to be your authentic self to share, learn, and heal. I enjoy processing with young adults through anxiety, stress-management, generational/childhood trauma, depression, relationships issues, and life transitions. My therapy style is holistic, and I use a combination of therapeutic approaches and interventions to help meet your needs. I strongly believe that everyone can acquire skills needed to fulfill life goals and overcome challenges; but sometimes a guide is needed to address patterns of behaviors and problematic thinking.
