At MPTS, LLC, our mission is to create a strong relationship of trust with clients in a caring and judgement-free space, capitalizing on diverse experiences, specialties, and therapeutic strategies to meet the unique needs of the clients we serve. In so doing, we advance the following core values: • Multicultural Competence, Humility, and Sensitivity We recognize the importance of culture in informing our identities and our unique lived experiences. As such, we are dedicated to fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust so that our clients become comfortable in exploring their life’s journey with their therapist. • Client-Centered Approaches We recognize that truly effective therapy is collaborative in nature. While our therapists have specialized knowledge and expertise, you and your therapist work together as a team to unpack your concerns and discover the ways to help you move toward your mental health goals. • Present-Time Focus While we understand exploring our past experiences helps to inform our future experiences, it is necessary to deliberately and purposefully be in our present. When we strive to live in the present moment, regardless of the discomfort or pain, we gain personal insight and strength to begin making change, as may be needed. • Empowerment Focus We believe that despite life’s challenges or even because of these challenges there is within each of us the potential for growth.
My name is Lydia Zuker and I am the owner of a small private practiced called Enlightened Therapy. Enlightened Therapy is all about creating an atmosphere of safety, support, and empowerment. If you are struggling and want to make improvements to your life and well-being, I would love to support and guide you along that journey. I operate utilizing evidence-based practices that are customized to each individual’s unique needs. I believe in therapy that addresses all areas of a person's life, including family, relationships, work, school, and physical health. I also believe in meeting my clients where they are at, as I desire for therapy to be a positive experience for personal growth, wellness, and enlightenment. About Lydia: I obtained my master’s degree in clinical social work from Michigan State University and my undergraduate degree in psychology from Grand Valley State University. I am a fully licensed master social worker who has experience in working with individuals, couples, and families of all ages, but specialize in working with adolescents and adults. I have clinical interest in anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief and loss, sexual concerns and identity, and relationships. I enjoy working with diverse populations and am LGBTQIA-affirming and informed.

If this seems like you, I want you to know you're not alone. With over 10 years in the field and personal experience, I know that these patterns can lead to high stress and anxiety symptoms; in addition to, re-traumatizing. Do you want to process that long-suppressed trauma, work through challenging relationship dynamics, and/or overcome substance abuse or mental health struggles? You have come to the right place! By working collaboratively, appropriate treatment plan goals will be created, a strong therapeutic alliance will be built, and a healthier version of you will be developed. Compassion, empathy, relatability, and humor are what I promise to bring to your journey of personal growth. Your own success can be achieved, if you are committed to the hard, but rewarding, work of therapy.
Do you feel lonely, misunderstood, or lost? Are you unable to share what you’re going through without fear, judgment, or shame? You’re not alone and your voice deserves to be heard. It can be hard to open up to a complete stranger about the pain and problems that you’re facing in life. I applaud you for your bravery in taking this first step. You may be going through a tough battle right now, and I believe that you have the strength in you to overcome it. I want to be the helping hand in getting you there. I won’t just hear you, but I wish to truly listen to understand where you’re coming from. Every person is an individual with their own story. I want to hear your story and help you on your path of life. This is a judgment-free zone. I want to build a relationship on trust and confidentiality so you can feel safe and free to bring your authentic self to session. I want to work with you to explore what you want from life and help you figure out how to get there. I want to support you through your journey in rewriting your life’s story so you can become the person you deserve to be. I have experience in working with abuse, trauma, and women’s issues. As a first-generation Pakistani-American Muslim, I offer a unique perspective to the counseling experience if you are looking for someone who shares a similar background to yours. For clients who would like a faith-based approach, I can integrate Islam into the therapy process. If you are from a Muslim or South Asian background but do not want a faith-based approach, I will provide a non-judgmental, understanding place that is both culturally sensitive and welcoming. If you are of a different faith or background, your worldview is what therapy will be focused on, not mine. How therapy goes is up to you. The therapeutic process is about you and your growth. If I meet what you’re looking for, feel free to call or email me and we can start working on your journey together.

Life changes and personal growth are inevitable, and sometimes can be overwhelming and difficult to navigate. ESPECIALLY attending college, being on our own for the first time, and trying to figure out this “”adulting” thing. A lack of change or growth can cause us to feel unhappy with ourselves. Whether you are struggling with adapting to changes in life or are feeling stuck, or feel pressure to trying to figure out your future, I’d love to help you! My approach is to meet you wherever you are (emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or physically) and help you set goals (at your pace) that you want to accomplish in therapy. My goal is to offer you a laid-back, sometimes fun, safe place for you to process your challenges, to feel supported, and to build confidence in your ability to initiate that desired change; or face those scary, inevitable changes. I received my Master of Social Work from Grand Valley State University. My experience has been focused on working with children, adolescents, and families in residential, school and home-based, and inpatient mental health treatment settings. I have a background in working with mild to severe mental health issues including anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation/self-harm, perinatal/postpartum issues, bipolar and related mood disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, stress management, life transitions, grief and loss, and co-occurring disorders. Therapeutic approaches I commonly utilize are Motivational Interviewing, Brief-Solution, Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills, and Mindfulness Practices.

We help people understand how trauma affects them as a whole person and work with them to reunify their thoughts, emotions, and body. We have advanced training that can offer symptom relief and a path out of feeling hopeless. The good news is that with time and focus, most people can become symptom-free and manage difficulties from a place of inner strength. Our counselors have advanced training on how the brain and body respond to and hold onto the effects of trauma. Our team understands how trauma can have a lasting impact on people’s perspective, relationships, life story, daily functioning and how its effects can lead to feelings of extreme depression and anxiety as well as being misunderstood by others.
I’ve always known I was meant to help others, and becoming a therapist has allowed me to do just that. I’m passionate about helping people heal, grow, and feel like the best versions of themselves. I work at Restore Therapy Collective in Grand Rapids offering both in person and telehealth sessions. I work with kids, teens, and adults on ADHD, anxiety, autism, life transitions, school issues, relationships, and trauma. I am also dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence. With a background as a school social worker and education in play therapy, motivational interviewing, CBT, and EMDR, I take a person-centered approach to help clients build resilience and find what works for them. Outside of here, I enjoy traveling, photography, trying new restaurants, reading, and spending time with my two cats, family, and friends. I’m grateful to support my Michigan community and would be honored to help you on your journey!
The Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CCPS) is a service, training, and research component of the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology at WMU. CCPS offers affordable mental health services to residents of southwestern Michigan. We do not take insurance, and sessions are priced using a sliding fee scale. Master's and doctoral degree students affiliated with the department provide professional counseling and psychological services at CCPS. Graduate student counselors are supervised by faculty members who are professional counselors or psychologists. Individual counseling for persons experiencing personal, educational, or vocational concerns is the primary service offered by the staff throughout the year. Other services such as marital and family therapy, group counseling, and psychological assessments (ADHD and Learning Disorders) are offered periodically.
People with self-critical thoughts, perfectionists, those who find it difficult to understand their own feelings, I am not here to change your thoughts, or to get rid of them; I don't believe that's possible, even if we can sometimes ignore them for a couple hours. But I do believe we can learn to respond to those thoughts differently, in ways that acknowledge and makes space for them, but doesn't leave you getting pushed around by them, doing things that don't feel like "you." I'm sure you have your reservations, that's normal and healthy. Therapy isn't easy! But if you're not happy with how things have been - how you've been treating yourself, others, the world around you - I would love to talk. I try my best to make therapy more than just "feeling your feelings." I want you to come away with a sense of peace and preparedness. Here's the part where I try to convince you I'm not a lizard in a therapist suit. My favorite Pokémon is Vulpix, I love Dungeons and Dragons, and cheesecake is objectively the best food. Thank you for reading, fellow humans. Talk to you soon, maybe!
Starting therapy is a huge step towards bettering yourself, and taking that leap of faith to begin this journey is the beginning stage of healing. I would be extremely privileged and feel so honored to walk alongside you during this journey. I will do my best to provide you with the skills and strategies that you are looking for in order to better your well-being. I take into account everyone’s individual backgrounds in order to develop the most effective treatment for you, and to allow you to feel safe and heard. I am a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor, and received my undergraduate degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University, and my Master’s degree in Counseling Education with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. In the past I have worked with clients ages 7 and up, who are struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other challenges. I believe that therapy can be a transformative experience; something that allows people to live their authentic and best lives, and helps us to develop coping skills to handle life’s toughest challenges. I practice therapy from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic (CBT) approach. I strive to provide an empathetic environment for those who step into my office, and to provide a safe space where you can expect to feel heard and comfortable while working with me. I am always striving to learn more, so that I can best treat those who I work with!

We believe in the importance of assessing and treating the whole person, from a biopsychosocial perspective/approach…. Our therapists’ specialties include, but aren’t limited to: depression, anxiety, perinatal mood disorders, grief and loss, trauma, addiction, ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, psychotic disorders, stress management, relationship/communication issues, domestic violence, career coaching, life transitions etc. Making changes takes courage. We can work together to help you feel understood and work through the challenging parts of change to allow you to live the life you’ve imagined for yourself.
Navigating life as a young adult and all the stress and mental health challenges that come with it makes this the right time to reach out. It takes real courage to be here and to show up for yourself. Experiencing personal struggles, relationship issues and loss impact how we see ourselves and the world around us. Together we will create a space of trust where it is safe to be vulnerable. In a space where you feel seen, heard and understood is where you will then be able to create change. I am eager to support you on your journey of personal change.
