At Mind and Body Christian Health Group, we specialize in providing holistic care that integrates traditional and functional medicine, offering innovative treatments designed to support mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Our practice is particularly well-suited for college students who are navigating stress, anxiety, or other challenges during a critical time in their lives. As part of the primary care we provide, we offer neurotransmitter testing, a medical test that measures the levels of chemicals in your brain—such as serotonin and dopamine—that impact mood, focus, and overall mental health. This allows us to identify imbalances and tailor treatments that are uniquely suited to your needs. In addition, we provide ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, an innovative treatment that has shown great promise for people dealing with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and addiction. Ketamine helps by promoting neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to form new connections. This can lead to faster and deeper emotional healing, particularly when combined with therapy. Our clients often seek help for anxiety, depression, trauma, or addiction, and we work best with those who are looking for personalized care that addresses both their mental and physical health. Many students find that our approach, which blends traditional care with cutting-edge treatments, helps them better manage the unique stresses of college life. If you’re looking for support that addresses both the mind and body, we are here to walk with you on your path to wellness.

I believe counseling is about gaining a complete understanding of oneself to connect the dots of why we think, behave, and feel the way we do. Therapy can help one to see the connection and learn skills to change patterns of self-destructive behavior into life fulfilling achievements. Therapy is a safe space to explore the person you are and look at the negative experiences in your life to start the healing process. In therapy we can work together to understand yourself more fully and work towards the goals you determine. Life is not easy and seeking helping can be the first step to making lasting change towards the future you envision. I desire to help you gain the insight into you so that your future is brighter, and you are stronger in knowing who you are. Yes, we all think we have flaws but sometimes what we think are flaws are strengths hidden by biases and once we understand them a whole new perspective is unveiled. The first step is the hardest but after that I will be there for you each step of the process.

Are you struggling with sadness, motherhood stress, anger, relationships, or family? Are you feeling emotionally drained? Or maybe you and/or your child is having behavioral challenges, racial identity issues/trauma, or a hard time adjusting to a relocation, divorce or separation, or other change(s) in their life? We help rebuild and reunify individuals and families by teaching coping skills and better communication skills to children ages 3-18, adults, and families. We use different therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of our clients and achieve results. We help children and adults learn how to understand, control, and share their emotions appropriately, and make better choices. In addition to talk therapy with adults and adolescents, we also use play therapy with children who have a hard time appropriately expressing their feelings and experiences. We specialize in family therapy, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, race, ethnicity, and cultural identity issues/trauma, working with children and adolescents with behavioral challenges, and parenting. We provide clients with a safe, comfortable, and non-judgmental environment, to openly talk about their thoughts and feelings. We take an open-minded approach to client wellness and consider the client's work life, family traditions, cultural, and spiritual beliefs. We provide support for developing a new way of seeing and moving through life.
My first career was in teaching and counseling is my second career. I did my internship at Ridgeview Institute on the adolescent unit. I worked there for 5 years as the DBT coordinator, utilizing both my teaching and counseling skills. While there, I trained graduate students in DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy.) I also became a registered play therapist during that time. I started a private practice, My Secret Garden counseling service, in 2015. I work with all ages, mainly helping people build a life worth living by learning to manage their emotions instead of having their emotions manage them. I believe in the inherent worth of every person, and that healing comes from relationship. I am a Christian, but have seen people of various beliefs. I am well versed in DBT, but also incorporate interactive play, talk therapy, and expressive art techniques.

Our services are tailored for folks who are learning to embrace their nerdy, weird authentic selves. We work with associate therapist and interns who want to learn how to support these specific populations. It also allows us to offer a sliding scale to meet anyone's budget.
Amanda is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has worked in the mental health field since 2004 and wants to see her clients live holistic, full, integrated lives and thus in collaboration with the client attempts to address all concerns in a way that is customized to each individual person's needs and wants. For some individuals this will mean homework outside of sessions (CBT), for others it may mean the use of a specialized technique (like EMDR), and for some individuals this may mean traditional talk therapy (perhaps in conjunction with walking during therapy). Amanda sees adults for individual and group therapy for varying concerns including but not limited to grief, trauma, sexual addictions, depression, and anxiety. Amanda has a particular interest in seeing young adults thrive in the transition from childhood to adulthood.
