Therapists for college students near 30309
Everyone experiences wounds in life, be it loss, illness, abuse, a difficult relationship, neglect, or any other overwhelming issue. Sometimes even experiences that "should" bring joy like graduating, starting a new job, marriage, or having children can render us feeling like we are in crisis - or stuck. We work with clients to help them get unstuck from feelings of anxiety, depression, and emotional reactivity. When we can identify the patterns that keep us in pain, we can begin to develop new ways to cope and manage the stress of our lives.

Beginning the process of therapy is a powerful step into understanding and developing the best self. I believe in a holistic approach to therapy. People are influenced by a variety of factors that influence their personal values and behaviors. It is incredibly important for me to honor a person where they are at. I collaborate with clients to work towards goals that are meaningful for them. I draw from a variety of frameworks and therapeutic treatment modalities. Traditional Cognitive Behavior Therapy is empirically sound and an effective theoretical approach I utilize. I also draw techniques from DBT, Person Centered Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy. I am EMDR trained and utilize this modality for those clients who have experienced acute and complex trauma. EMDR is also indicated for clients who have tried traditional therapy and feel "stuck". EMDR can help shift change as clients sort through negative memories tied to negative self beliefs. I have had the privilege of working with a variety of concerns. Many of my clients have struggled with adjustment, relationship issues, trauma, depression and anxiety.

Do you struggle with neurodivergent challenges, past trauma, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm that affects your day-to-day life, relationships, or ability to function? Do you feel exhausted by the emotional weight of past experiences or the constant pressure to keep up with everything? Now more than ever young adults are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, and uncertain about how to manage neurodiversity challenges, heal from trauma, and create a life that feels fulfilling and grounded. I believe in the power of connection and the counseling relationship can help you heal, grow, and find hope again.
Sometimes life feels overwhelming and out of control, and it can leave us feeling consumed by stress, anxiety, anger, depression, and hopelessness. While these emotions are an expected part of life, there are times they can grow so strong and intense that we feel powerless to manage them on our own. We may see their impact on various parts of our life – family, work, social relationships, our ability to feel pleasure, and our overall quality of life. If this resonates with you, if this is what you are experiencing, therapy can help. For more than 20 years, I’ve helped individuals face life’s challenges by assisting them in understanding their own emotional patterns and supporting them in making healthy choices. With time, effort, and the right tools, you can have a better outlook on any issues that life brings your way. Feeling uncertain and unsure where to start? Give me a call or message me to schedule your first appointment. My Experience and Practice Throughout my 20+ years of experience in community mental health, I have provided individual, family, and group therapy to adults and families with various diagnoses, struggles, and difficulties. My specialties are mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, personality disorders, self-esteem, adjustment issues, life transitions, and women's issues. I tend to have a more eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from multiple modalities, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, as well as various trauma therapies, including Trauma-Focused CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy. What to Expect: You determine your treatment goals, and together, we will identify the steps needed to reach them. Our work together will focus on developing the skills and tools necessary to effectively manage your emotions, handle distress, problem-solve, and have the life you want. We will work on improving those areas of your life that feel like a struggle. As you gain insight and understanding, self-growth occurs. With that growth comes change, and, in that change, you will find your life worth living. Life may feel dark now, but brighter days are ahead. Services are available in my office in Evans, GA, or via a secure telehealth platform. Insurance accepted: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, Oxford, and Oscar Health.
