I have provided individual, group, couples and family therapy in both school settings as well as private practice settings for close to 25 years . I utilize behavioral management tools, cognitive behavioral therapy, and creative therapies to encourage development of self, learn how to celebrate strengths and weaknesses and help clients feel accountable and more importantly, recognize they have the ability to grow. I also have a strong background in parent coaching, fertility counseling with particular focus on single moms by choice and support and aiding clients in working through life transitions. I have been working with children, adolescents , and adults for over 25 years and I have provided supervision to social workers for 10 years. My philosophy for all my clients young or old is that we must feel uncomfortable in order to truly grow. College is an especially special time that can be filled with significant changes and challenges. This can be an important time to recognize you are not an extension of your parents and figure out who you are on your own. I am currently available for supervision to Licensed Social Workers . I also have availabity for individual, couples and family therapy as well as parent coaching.

Life continually brings new challenges and successes to us: life events and circumstances that can contribute to periods of serious distress – but also potentially meaningful personal growth. This can certainly apply to those who are on a path toward achieving a degree - adjusting to new things: a degree program, city, roommates, & even ways of learning (including online classes & COVID-sensitive campus life). This also can be a time in life when past challenges can crop up again - vestiges of trauma, social anxieties, family of origin issues, etc. In addition to doing traditional talk therapy, I also conduct mind-body skills groups in which we practice in a small group setting a nice overview of techniques that can help you cope with just about anything: meditation, guided imagery, mindfulness, relaxation, etc. I incorporate these into our individual work, too, but I often recommend one of these 6-week groups to lay the foundation. Past clients have described me as someone who really listened and conveyed sincere concern, but who was also not afraid to say what they needed to hear. If you work with me, I will partner with you to identify your strengths and to empower you along the way to greater insight. We will always look for hope and positivity even when they may be hard to find. In addition to traditional talk therapy, I love using non-traditional methods such as listening to music, reading poetry, even being silly when we could use a laugh.

I value collaboration, trust, and mutual respect in the therapeutic relationship. Rather than positioning myself as the expert on your life, I help you engage your strengths and inner wisdom in the healing process. I take a holistic approach to wellness, honoring the mind, body, and spirit, while acknowledging the impact of societal and systemic forces on mental health. I create an affirming, intentional, and safe space for you to explore how your identities, values, past experiences, and fears shape your challenges. My practice integrates cognitive-behavioral theory (CBT), mindfulness, and mind-body practices, fostering deeper awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Rooted in a humanistic approach, I deeply believe in your wholeness and potential and help you reconnect with personal strength and clarity.

Bilingual therapist who works with COLLEGE STUDENTS, GRADUATE STUDENTS & ADULTS. I approach my work with a collaborative spirit knowing that you are the expert on your life. The goal of therapy is to approach a problem together so that you feel more capable and energized to handle the challenge that life has sent your way. Together we will acknowledge and celebrate the ways you are already coping with the stressful situation that brought you into therapy and develop strategies and life habits to manage difficult situations. I have practiced in a range of settings, with clients of diverse ages and backgrounds. I help parents decode their child's needs and offer parents strategies to better respond to them. I am also passionate about working with college students, professionals, and parents who are seeking greater work-life balance, belonging, and significance. As a white, straight, cisgendered female clinician, Nancy is a proponent of social justice and works hard to create an environment where her clients can feel understood, supported, and accepted. Life as a college student is supposed to be great, but at the end of the day it can really suck. Exams, studying, roommates, relationships, missing home - these are all things that can drive us crazy, not to mention any depression or anxiety that might have been hanging around before. And if you’re dealing with sexuality or gender identity issues, it can really feel difficult. If you’ve made it this far you’ve taken an awesome step towards figuring stuff out. It’s not easy to do, and therapy really can help with the right fit. Whether it’s LGBTQIA+ issues, dealing with a less than ideal roommate, or just figuring out what you want to do with your life, I’ve been there and want to help you through it too.

Registered Dietitian
Arlington, VA

Hi, I'm Emilee and I am glad you are here! I am an eating disorder dietitian providing compassionate and comprehensive care to individuals struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, and body image concerns. I work with folks who experience some of the following: - Feeling tired of starting a new diet - Experiencing shame & guilt around food - Folks who are wanting a more accepting relationship with their natural body size - Are in eating disorder recovery or struggling with disordered eating - Navigating the pregnancy and the postpartum About Emilee: I live in Virginia with my husband and our sassy bulldog, Stella. My choice to enter the field of nutrition originates from my personal journey of overcoming struggles with food and my commitment to challenging and deconstructing diet culture. I have worked in various levels of care for eating disorder recovery as a dietitian and clinical director. I grew up in rural Virginia and still get excited that I live close to a Target these days. When I am not seeing clients you can find me watching BRAVO TV, reading my Kindle, and going out for sushi. Philosophy & Approach: I use a Health at Every Size® (HAES) and Intuitive Eating framework. My approach is rooted in body neutrality, prioritizing overall well-being, without a focus on weight. Rather than fixating on numbers, I encourage fostering positive connections with food. My sessions are client-centered. You know your body best therefore I am here as a supporting hand. I founded Embrace Nutrition with the purpose of individuals having a safe and non-judgmental space to develop healthier relationships with food & their natural body size. I specialize in binge eating disorder but work with all diagnosis and eating challenges. My goal in our work together is for you to feel empowered. The constant messages from diet culture are exhausting and confusing. I take time to listen & learn so I can be a partner to you in this journey Embracing one's body, nourishment, and unique journey are fundamental principles that guide my approach as an eating disorder dietitian.
