If you have ADHD, you might feel like typical strategies just don’t work. That can be incredibly frustrating leading to more arguments, more stress, and a growing sense of overwhelm or uncertainty about the future. You may have already tried working with other providers and felt like nothing really changed. You’re looking for someone who truly understands ADHD, someone who can offer strategies that actually stick, while also holding you accountable in a supportive way. Managing ADHD is tough, but you don’t have to do it alone. I can help make the process easier. With specialized training from top ADHD clinics, I bring evidence-based strategies to help you better understand ADHD and build practical skills that support your well-being. My approach is goal-oriented and backed by research designed to give you clear, measurable progress over weeks not years. Therapy doesn’t have to be a long-term commitment. From the very beginning, we’ll work together to set clear goals and a plan to reach them. My priority is helping you gain the tools you need to thrive. And if you’re on the fence about starting, schedule a free consultation call to ensure it’s the right fit.
Anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship problems, and burnout can be very overwhelming and make you feel alone and exhausted. In therapy, together we can work to strengthen your coping skills, set and maintain healthy boundaries, gain insight and alter patterns that are no longer working for you, build more satisfying relationships, and improve your confidence and trust in yourself. My approach to therapy is relational, as I will provide a nonjudgmental, warm, and compassionate space for us to work together. I will try to help you feel as comfortable as possible when talking about parts of your life that may be difficult or painful. Abby is an eclectic therapist that utilizes a person centered, and strength-based form of therapy derived from the Family Systems Model, as well as concepts from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness techniques. Her clinical experience has allowed her to focus on diverse needs including trauma, substance abuse/dual diagnosis, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment issues, gender issues, sexual identity issues, LGBTQIA, grief and loss, sexual abuse and victimization, patterns of codependency, self-harming behaviors, suicidal ideation, family conflict, Geek and Gaming Culture, life transitions, parenting, and pregnancy/prenatal/postpartum/infertility. Abby has taken trainings to support the transgender community with transitioning. Abby has specific training in QPR (Question Persuade Refer) including having completed the train-the-trainer component as a QPR Gatekeeper, CISM (Critical Incident Stress Management), and DCORT (Disaster Crisis Outreach and Refer Team). During her time spent as the Team Lead (assistant manager) of a Pennsylvania county crisis intervention program, she was also on the county’s DCORT team. All of these certifications are designed to help mental health professionals respond within the community to reduce the rate of suicide and trauma symptoms associated with impactful events. Abby is currently part of Westmoreland County’s Suicide Task Force, Ray of Hope, and the county L.O.S.S. Team. She is also a board member of Metamorphosis Begins. Abby utilizes evidence-based approaches to help clients to achieve their goals. She believes that individuals are the experts in their lives, but sometimes get “stuck” and need help “getting out”. Abby works with her clients to help them to access their strengths and develop approaches that are centered on their personal objectives. Through this approach, the client is able to build their “toolbox” by gaining “tools”, or skills, to help them move forward with the healthy life they desire.

As a licensed psychologist, I can help you cope with depression, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma. I also specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, whether in exploring one’s identity, navigating coming out, considering or actively transitioning, relationship and sexual concerns, coping with queerphobia, or looking for connections. I do my best to be genuine, respectful, and honest with my clients so together, we can create a collaborative relationship that allows for vulnerability. I approach therapy from a relational-existential perspective, also drawing on feminist psychology and trauma-informed practice. In therapy with me, I will help you understand your relationship patterns and empower you to make autonomous, well thought-out decisions in your life, as well as get relief from your symptoms and generally cope better. Coming from a somatic and trauma-informed background means I deeply appreciate the ways our bodies carry the potential for healing within psychotherapy. As a queer transgender person, I am thankful to be able to give back to my community as an “out” therapist. I believe it is also important to take care of my own well-being, since I’m a person too! I do so by spending time with loved ones, exploring natural spaces, reading, baking, and gardening.
On our journey it can be helpful to have someone to help us see the narratives that often define our lives. Some of those narratives keep us from experiencing what we want for ourselves now and in the future. Since graduating with a Masters in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in 2010, I have been working as a therapist with people in various stages of life. A relationship between a therapist and client can provide someone with a deep reflection of how they live and are experienced. I believe therapy can give us the opportunity to rediscover our story in a new way. Real change is possible and the therapeutic relationship is one of the ways to cultivate that change. Areas of experience and interests: ADHD, adults, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, family of origin concerns, grief and loss, life transitions, mother abandonment, parenting, sexuality, sexual and physical trauma, trauma recovery Fee: I offer a sliding scale fee Insurances Accepted: United Healthcare, UPMC, Cigna, Highmark Therapeutic Style: Relational Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Trauma-Informed, Family Systems Contact Autumn directly at 412-606-1887 or autumnkrusebrownlee@gmail.com
