I emphasize diet, exercise, collaborative communication between caretakers and sleep hygiene before prescribing medications. In my counseling work I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and groups. My clients include people struggling with PTSD, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders. My relational and existential approach helps me understand and connect with my clients. I believe that the intent of therapy is exchanging "symptoms" for "coping skills." To accomplish this transformation, we need to understand our past to shed light on who we are in the present, where we have the power to focus on present issues and make changes that will influence our future. In addition to my private practice, I spent the last eight years working at acute care programs at McLean Hospital with adolescents and their parents, supervised pre- and postdoctoral trainees, and carried an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School.
