Therapists for college students near Saint Mary's College
Relationship issues and Anxiety issues are two areas for which undergraduate and graduate students seek my services. Relationships: High conflict, unproductive conflict, sexual struggles, grief over a break-up, premarital concerns. Anxiety: Most students who see me for anxiety have panic, crushing worry, obsessive thoughts, or trouble sleeping. In practice for over 20 years, I'm a licensed psychologist who works from research-based approaches. We track progress from your point of view to make sure we hit the ground running and immediately start in the direction you desire.

As a Notre Dame graduate, I have a unique understanding of the Notre Dame experience. As a Latino, I understand the challenges of being a minority on campus. My training includes traditional talk therapy and in the past eleven years, extensive training in working with anxiety and depression that is rooted in past trauma. I conduct sessions in Spanish if need be. I have the perspective of having grown up in an academic family. My father was a member of the Notre Dame faculty for 26 years. I know that the rigors of modern university attendance cause many students to abuse mood altering substances. I am trained in chemical dependence issues.

Hi! I'm Pam and have been in private practice and providing therapy for over 20 years. I have lived on the west coast, in the east, and now in the midwest. Let me help you achieve your greatest capacity to learn and move successfully through any obstacle. I have helped people work through various transitions as well as mental health issues. I also work with substance use issues including legal issues. Practice located walking distance from Notre Dame campus. Extensive experience working with students. Let's get started! I am licensed as a clinical social worker and I am also licensed as an addiction therapist.
I understand the therapeutic relationship can be a powerful catalyst for change. My ultimate goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment that will nurture the therapeutic alliance and allow the client to get what they need, where they are at. I incorporate a variety of treatment modalities and operate from a holistic, client-centered, strengths-based mindset to tailor treatment to each client’s specific needs. I am also EMDR trained and currently pursuing certification. I value collaboration with my clients and welcome any feedback!
I specialize in individual therapy with young adults. I use a solution-focused approach which means that we will be spending less time talking about the history of problems that may be present in your life, and more time building solutions for the present and future. I am warm, open, and friendly and I genuinely love working with people. I have a deep respect for each person's ability to bring about desired change. I will listen to your therapy goals, build a trusting relationship with you, and ultimately help you progress toward greater happiness and health. Nobody comes to therapy without having tried some other things first. So, you already know a bit about what works for you and what doesn’t. And you know what you want your life to be like. Once we can shift our focus from “problems” and “past” to “solutions” and “future," all things are possible. I invite YOU to be my teacher. Teach me about your life, your goals, what works and doesn’t work for you. Teach me about your struggles, your fears, your hopes, and your successes. I will listen and absorb what you what you tell me. I will seek to understand. I will make connections and ponder and apply that new information.
Scared (insert adjective) may be what you feel, brave is what you are. College- an excellent time to think about who you are and who you are becoming- not what you are doing, no, this can change. Who do you BE? And do you remember that you are loved for that being; that you are ok and not ok? Let's enjoy story, silence, and shifting the maps in our heads until we feel more confident traveling this path and seeing where it leads.
Story of Hope is a husband and wife owned therapy practice. We thrive in supporting clients through seasons of struggle or transition. Our training allows us to be especially effective at supporting relational concerns.

Hi, I'm Heather, a licensed counselor. I specialize in Eating Disorder treatment, and I always have a heart for healing the relationship with food and your body. I also have extensive experience treating individuals with anxiety and depression, which are common for people to suffer without knowing quite how to make it better, or if that’s even possible. I'm willing to integrate spiritual faith into sessions, and will provide supportive acceptance of your belief system. I view my clients not as hopeless or crazy, but simply as genuine people going through a rough time in their life, who need a little help finding their path. With patience and understanding, I can help you find yours too, using an Adlerian framework and teaching skills grounded in DBT, ACT, and/or CBT. I am passionate to help every one of my clients let go of judgment and learn to accept themselves and their imperfections. My energy and enthusiasm for the power of positive thinking are balanced by my ability to meet you where you are with empathy and understanding. Call my office today, and Sarah will get you started!
Help for Anxiety and Trauma: Do you struggle with overthinking, people-pleasing, restlessness, or feeling lonely? Do you run from one thing to the next? Do you put off lunch and bathroom breaks until your body is shouting for your attention? You work to fix things. You read self-development books, exercise, try to eat well, and stay hydrated. Part of you thinks you could do more -and do better. I can help. Together, we create a weekly therapy that both honors the strengths of hustle culture, and creates the experience of something different: being present in the moment, a sense of connection, etc. Whether problem-solving or overthinking, your mind is a powerhouse. In therapy, we use this strength while also building your literacy in your body and emotions. It's experiential. Consider: How do you know when a person is sitting too close to you? Attention to that body-level sense of knowing is what sets this approach apart from other talk therapy. Therapy can help you experience a felt sense of safety within yourself and in the external world -becoming a launching pad to whatever you choose. And yet the things bringing you to therapy are the same things that make it difficult to reach out to a therapist.
