Yislen Felipes is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and a Nationally Certified Counselor. Yislen earned her Master of Arts degree in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida and two bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Florida. She currently practices in Orlando, Florida, working with all sorts of individuals who are seeking change and improvement in their lives.

From a young age, Yislen knew she wanted to be in a helping profession. She is passionate about helping others understand themselves to better themselves. Yislen uses a variety of techniques and skills from several theoretical orientations depending on her clients’ needs. She typically uses a humanistic, person-centered approach to meet clients where they are. She mostly works with adults and teens for individual therapy. Yislen’s top specialties include life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-esteem. She is also LGBTQ+ allied and speaks Spanish.

Yislen’s passion lies in connection – she treasures the connections she has made with all the individuals who have sat in her office. Yislen believes the most important part of the therapeutic process is the relationship between the client and therapist. A strong foundation allows the opportunity for accountability and models healthy communication and relationship skills. With motivation and the proper support from the right therapist, each person can regain control of their life and enact change.

Personal Blurb:
I am sure there are hundreds of Buzzfeed quiz results I can show you that would tell you more about me, but maybe this will be enough to give you the gist of who I am to see if we are a match: ENFJ, Enneagram Type 2, Gryffindor, Swiftie, and a “How I Met Your Mother ending was good” believer. In my free time, I love watching TV shows, going to the beach, attending concerts, and riding roller coasters. My approach to therapy can be summarized by a quote from a wise man in the field: “There has never been a sadness that can't be cured by breakfast food.” – Ron Swanson
