Yara Tethys
It’s only within the last few decades that research on ADHD and autism started including females! Girls/women/AFAB individuals have been overlooked, undiagnosed, or *mis*diagnosed and labeled as ‘moody’, ‘too emotional’, ‘spacey’, etc.
One study found that around 46% of women were misdiagnosed with another disorder before being diagnosed with ADHD! I am passionate about helping adult women and AFAB individuals with ADHD and/or ASD learn new skills, gain confidence, and move away from shame.
I strive to be authentic, compassionate, and respectful, and to foster a relationship where you feel genuinely seen and valued. My therapy style is influenced by the work of Brené Brown, who writes, "We are all made of strength and struggle." I am a cheerleader in the best sense of that word; I will encourage you to build on your strengths and support you through your struggles.
I believe in the healing power of play and creativity, and infuse my work with humor and spontaneity. I love helping people identify and explore the various parts/roles/identities that make them unique beings. I don’t believe in ‘one size fits all' therapy and am trained in numerous modalities. We can work together to discover what approaches work best for you!
