Mental illness comes with a negative stigma that people wear as a badge of shame and makes them believe they're alone in their struggle. This shame can prevent them from seeking help because they believe there isn't any to be found. Therapy is an intimidating process that some avoid because of how uncomfortable it is to talk about your life with a complete stranger. We as therapists expect this and come prepared for things to feel awkward at first. Trust the process a little and you'll be surprised what can come from it.
As a clinical counselor, I seek to help you overcome shame by recognizing your control over your life and your mental health. Your struggles are a part of you, they may intimidate you, but they do not rule over you. My practice is where trauma-informed evidenced-based modalities meets compassion for people from all walks of life.
If you have been struggling with your mental health or with a problem that seems unanswerable, let's talk about it. There are never guarantees in my line of work, but don't underestimate how great it can feel to be heard.
