AREAS OF EXPERTISE:
* LAW STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
* ANY STUDENT COPING WITH ILLNESS/BEREAVEMENT
There is widespread recognition of significant mental health challenges affecting law students, especially depression, anxiety, and substance use. As an attorney and psychotherapist, I understand the unique stressors and pressures of law school and the legal profession. For many years, I managed the high demands of big law and a federal judicial clerkship. I spent more than a decade in higher education leading a law school mental health and wellness program, counseling law students and alumni with career and professional concerns, and teaching first- and third-year law courses. Through individually tailored therapy, I help clients cultivate healthy coping mechanisms to navigate the many demands of the legal field while prioritizing mental well-being. My successful approach integrating evidence-based therapeutic interventions with law-related concepts and experiences has been a game changer for clients.
Additionally, as a former national research and healthcare leader, patient advocate and caregiver for 25+ years, I help individuals and their loved ones navigate the challenges and opportunities presented to those living with chronic, life altering or terminal illness. For those dealing with bereavement and grief, I help clients cope with the many facets of loss and move towards healing, acceptance, and finding a renewed sense of meaning in life.
