When you first meet Velvet, you'll feel welcomed (and put at ease) by her gentle and caring presence. Velvet will help you feel heard, understood, and validated. As you continue to work together, you'll feel encouraged, supported, and guided as you navigate your way through difficult times. Velvet understands that it takes courage to begin therapy, so she'll take the time needed to build a comfortable rapport. She'll then help you use your strengths, positive attributes and talents to get through the tough times and become the best version of yourself. Velvet has experience caring for individuals from ages 2 to 91.
She also works with families and couples. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, family dynamic issues, marital/couples struggles, divorce, abuse, domestic violence, or foster care/adoption concerns, Velvet can offer support, guidance, and relief.
When in session, Velvet will blend a variety of empowering therapeutic techniques to help guide you, borrowing the best of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Art and Play Therapy. Velvet will find just the right mix to best support you. Velvet earned her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in Minnesota.
