.I am a proud local and received my MSW from North Carolina Central University. I am EMDR trained. For several years, I worked in community mental health, where I worked to empower families to strengthen their family unit through family therapy. It is my genuine hope to do the same for people as individuals within my community. I’m a firm believer in having a great support system around you and being vulnerable enough to be open to this process of receiving support is key to growing as a human being. We aren’t meant to be silos in this world. I do believe in having an integrated approach to therapy, along with the use of a strengths-based perspective and being trauma informed. The mind and the body are connected and work as a team- for better or worse.
I’m especially drawn to the needs of BIPOC(Black/Indigenous/People of Color) communities and helping on the journey of healing and growth. Sometimes we just need to know that through the systemic/traumatic issues we face, we have someone there who can relate. These challenges can lead to anxiety, depression, PTSD, and chronic stress. I aim to foster an empathetic, calm, and respectful environment where we can discuss these particular things and move forward with action plans for relief and growth. I have several years of experience working with teenagers as well as families and I’m looking forward to continuing working with them. Whether you are an induvial or a family looking for something more, I’m looking forward to being a support for you.
