Tori Spencer
Hello, my name is Tori and I am a social work supervisee. I am passionate about supporting individuals through life’s challenging seasons. I believe as a therapist, that the most beneficial way to work together is for me to meet you where you are. I think therapy works best when we work together to create a safe, non-judgmental space where healing and meaningful change can occur.
I have experience working with teens, young adults and families. I offer support around concerns such as anxiety, depression, identity exploration and values, grief and trauma. I approach therapy from a person-centered lens, I want to help tailor my approach to care for your needs and goals. I am able to use CBT or a structured thought approach, or use DBT skills based therapy to help my clients. My basis of therapy will always be to help empower and enlighten my client as they journey through their own struggles and triumphs.
I started my education with my Bachelor’s in Nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing. This has helped guide me in the world of working with people in different stages of their life. I learned through nursing school I was more passionate in working with people versus the medical system. When I went for my Master’s in Social Work, I attended Indiana Wesleyan University. I learned how to speak with my clients and help support them through mental health. I have interned and worked in private practice, PHP/IOP center and memory care day center for older adults.
When I am not in sessions I like to surround myself with my dog and my cat. They are both great joys in my life, they often cuddle up with me while I read or watch engaging shows and movies. I love hobbies and I always want to know what interests my clients and colleagues. I enjoy spending time with my sisters and family whenever possible.
I truly want to create a therapy space that allows for my clients to feel safe and seen. I want to know my clients as individuals and support them through their mental health needs. When you are ready; bring your goals, struggles and commitment to helping me create a safe environment to address topics that allow for growth and healing.
