You’re the person family and friends go to when they need someone to listen or want a helping hand. You take care of others, even if it means sacrificing your own wants and needs. You may feel valued in being needed in this way, but you also find yourself feeling invisible, lonely, emotionally overwhelmed, and resentful. At times, you may even find yourself feeling unworthy of or unable to accept the reciprocation that you also so deeply desire. I invite you to get curious about the possibility that there is a different way to show up for yourself and in your relationships - a way that feels more fulfilling and sustainable.
At one point, over-giving and over-performing were what provided you with a sense of safety within your relationships. Maybe you had a parent who needed you to take care of them, or a parent who was unpredictable and unsafe. Therapy is a place where you can feel safe to step out of those earlier roles and connect to your most authentic self.
When we take the initial leap towards seeking therapy we may be feeling a range of complicated, conflicting emotions. From hopelessness to hope, self-doubt to self-assurance - these are all completely normal and understandable emotions to experience. No matter what you feel, I look forward to learning more about how I may assist you in your healing journey.
I can provide you with paperwork for reimbursement from your insurance company if you are seeking out-of-network sessions.
