Taylor Hendricks
The strategies that got you through high school are not working anymore. You used to be able to write the paper in one panicked all nighter and pull an A. Now it is week six of a 15 page assignment and you have opened the document 47 times and written one sentence. You watch your roommate effortlessly do the things that take you four hours and wonder what is wrong with you. The answer, increasingly, is nothing. Your brain is just wired differently than the system was built for.
Hi, I'm Taylor. I am neurodivergent myself, which means when you sit across from me, virtually, you are not sitting across from someone who read about your experience in a textbook. You are sitting across from someone who gets it from the inside.
I love working with college aged women, especially the ones who are getting an ADHD or autism diagnosis for the first time at 19, 22, 25 and feeling everything at once. The relief of finally having a name for it. The grief of every year you spent thinking you were just lazy or broken. The rage at the people who told you that you were "so smart, if you would just apply yourself." The fear that now that you have the word, you have to do something with it.
I also love the queer girls, the trans girls, and the girls whose identity is something they are still figuring out in real time. You do not have to have it sorted before we start. We can sort it together.
I am calm. Like genuinely, naturally calm. Not performing calm. Clients tell me that walking into a session with me feels like taking a breath they did not know they were holding. I am also lighthearted, because healing does not have to be relentlessly heavy. We will laugh. And then we will sit with the hard stuff. Sometimes both in the same session.
I offer evening sessions Monday through Wednesday and all day Sunday, which works for students who cannot do daytime appointments between classes and labs.
A few things about me outside of work: I watch storms for fun, I am a sci-fi nerd, I game, and I will defend anime to anyone who has questions. Having a life outside of therapy makes me better at therapy.
