Sylvia Anderson
Positive experiences with mental health professionals, both personally and through those around me, inspired me to become a therapist. After seeing the way it helped change lives and fostered empowerment, I decided I wanted to provide the same support and guidance to others.
My goal in helping clients is to empower them through the journey of healing and transformation. I believe in providing a non-judgmental space that incorporates unconditional support and positive regard to help my clients feel comfortable sharing their feelings and experiences. Given my bi-racial and multi-cultural background, I believe it is essential to incorporate considerations to the multi-faceted nature of my client’s context and background in order to be able to understand and support them in working toward their therapeutic goals.
In therapy, I offer a warm, interactive, and safe environment grounded in respect, sensitivity, and compassion for every client I work with. When appropriate, I try to foster humor and positivity in sessions. I focus on empowering my clients using a strengths-based approach as well as mindfulness-focused CBT and acceptance-based DBT as they navigate a path towards a more regulated, fulfilling, and joyful life. My aim is to equip you with the tools needed for growth, resilience, and improved well-being.
