Sarah Malatesta
I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Maryland and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner studies from Maryville University. While I am early in my advanced practice career, I bring a strong and diverse clinical foundation from working in outpatient psychiatry, inpatient child psychiatry, addiction treatment, pediatric neuropsychiatry/rehabilitation, and telehealth. These experiences have helped me feel confident supporting people through a wide range of mental health needs and stages of care.
I work with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, substance use concerns, and life transitions. Many of the people I see are looking for clarity, relief from feeling overwhelmed, or support in figuring out what treatment actually works for them. I also work with individuals who are new to mental health care as well as those continuing their journey.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care. I combine medication management with supportive therapy, CBT techniques, and motivational interviewing, while also taking into account your lifestyle, stress, and day-to-day challenges. I aim to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and actively involved in your treatment, so we can work together toward feeling more balanced and in control of your mental health.
