Sahana Sriram
As an international student myself, I know how challenging it can feel to be far from home, navigating career pressures, cultural expectations, and the loneliness that often comes with transition. Today, as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and a Columbia University graduate, I feel grateful to support other students and young professionals through these experiences.
My approach centers depth, safety, and relational transformation. I recently completed AEDP Level 1 certification, and also integrate methods such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, Narrative Therapy, Somatic, and Art Therapy. Together, we work slowly and compassionately to undo aloneness, build emotional resilience, and help you feel more confident and grounded in your own skin.
If you’re looking for longer-term, culturally sensitive support beyond what campus counseling can offer, I’d be honored to connect.
I work especially with South Asian, immigrant, and POC students, as well as LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, who are seeking a therapist that understands the layers of identity, belonging, and resilience. My practice invites those navigating:
1. Cross-cultural adjustment and acculturation stress
2. Visa-related uncertainty and the pressure of immigration systems
3. High-stakes academics and career stress, including job applications and workplace challenges
4. Relationship struggles and cultural expectations
5. Anxiety, depression, body image concerns, or relational trauma
