Rita Gilman
I specialize in working with all forms of eating disorders, negative body image, over exercise, anxiety, depression, grief, and stress management. I see males and females, LGBT. I use many forms of therapy, tailored to the individual and their needs. I know college can be exciting, yet very stressful and anxiety provoking. I teach relaxation skills and meditation as well as using CBT, DBT and ACT skills. Stress is a part of life, yet we can learn to manage it so it does not have to feel so overwhelming. In fact we can learn to use our stress to motivate ourselves, and still not be overwhelmed by it.
I have 12 years of experience of working with college students. I worked for 10 years in Boston, MA and have been back home in Mystic, CT for 3 years. This has given me diverse experience that has deepen my understanding and compassion for college students.
