Dr. Rebecca Forkner

Psychologist, Ph.D., PLLC
Last Updated 30+ days ago

I am a clinical psychologist specializing in helping adults—particularly college students—who are struggling with anxiety, depression, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), and non-suicidal self-harm.
Anxiety, depression, and OCD affect how we think, feel, and engage with the world. Everyone experiences worry, sadness, or moments of doubt, but when these feelings become overwhelming, they can disrupt daily life, relationships, and the pursuit of goals. Anxiety might feel like constant worry or physical tension; depression can bring exhaustion, hopelessness, or loss of motivation; OCD often involves cycles of intrusive thoughts and repetitive behaviors. These are human struggles—yet with the right support, they can be understood and eased.
As a therapist, I work from a mindfulness-based perspective, helping clients notice and shift their relationship with thoughts and emotions. I integrate approaches from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and psychodynamic theory when needed. Together, we focus on cultivating awareness, resilience, and flexibility so you can move toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
I am licensed to treat patients in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut, with licensure in New York in progress. I have been licensed since 2013 and providing therapy services in various capacities since 1998.

I work regularly with a wide range of ethnic backgrounds (Egyptian, African American, Cape Verdean, Jordanian, Chinese American, Jewish, Japanese American, Guatemalan, Haitian, Korean American, Hawaiian, Salvadorian, Bolivian, Guatemalan, Mexican, and multiethnic), as well as a number of individuals who are first generation college students.
