There are two primary elements that make up the majority of the magic that happens in therapy: the quality of what is shared between the people in the therapy space, and the elements that are carried forth by those persons and applied to life.

The relational qualities that are necessary for the unfolding of insight are natural aspects of who I am as a person: warmth, a non-judgmental mindset, acceptance of whatever a client brings in, curiosity, and kindness. Most have not experienced these elements consistently in a relationship, and growth arises naturally from this new way of connecting.

The other essential piece in the type is therapy I provide is helping clients to understand how they are functioning in their world, and how to shift functioning in order to get closer to meaning, connection, and joy.

We explore how the body and mind work, how motivation arises and where it gets stuck, how to relate differently to thought, emotion, and things in the world, and how to ease suffering. With considerable work on your part, the end result is a more enriched, fulfilled, and compassionate experience with life.

I have worked with a wide variety of life struggles, with significant experience treating anxiety and depression, identity, adjustment, adjustment specifically to college and academic stress, separation from parents, college-related stressors, life transitions, romantic relationships, friendships, and family relationships, self-harm, sexual abuse, sexual assault, and existential crises.

I have worked regularly with a wide range of ethnic backgrounds (Egyptian, African American, Cape Verdean, Jordanian, Chinese American, Jewish, Japanese American, Guatemalan, Haitian, Korean American, Hawaiian, Salvadorian, Bolivian, Guatemalan, Mexican, and multiethnic) , as well as a fair number of individuals who are first generation college students.
