Rebecca Elowe
My name is Rebecca, and I’m an LMHC. I enjoy working with all different kinds of clients, but I tend to work mainly with adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, and those with trauma histories.
Everyone experiences anxiety to some degree. It’s a survival mechanism that can keep people safe and lead them to consider the dangers of what they are doing. But when fears and anxieties start getting in the way of living your life in the way you’d hope to, therapy can help you explore, understand, and challenge those anxieties.
I approach therapy from a psychodynamic and person-centered lens. I offer you an opportunity to explore how your present challenges relate to your history. You are the leader on the journey, and I view my role as a guide in the passenger’s seat.
In addition to being a talk therapist, I am a drama therapist. I see the value in viewing challenges from the perspective of role and story: what part do we play in our lives, and how can shifting role or lens impact how the story unfolds?
Finally, I am trained in eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I use this approach most with those who would like to process trauma, but it can be utilized for reducing stress unrelated to traumatic experiences as well.
I have experience treating adults across many stages of life, including young adults, seniors, mothers, adoptees, and neurodiverse individuals (including those with ADHD and autism), as well as those with PTSD, anxiety, and OCD.
