Rachel McClure-Varto
I’m an experienced therapist practicing in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
I’m a Certified Advanced Drug & Alcohol Counselor (CAADC) and have many experiences working with those in recovery. I often utilize EMDR therapy — a type of therapy used to treat PTSD, trauma, anxiety, addiction, and other mental health issues.
As an LGBTQ+ person, I’m passionate about working with LGBTQ+ individuals and have an understanding of issues particular to our community.
I have experience working with those on their journey to coming out, addressing internalized homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia, as well as gender identity affirmation and transgender support. I also work with family members seeking to better support loved ones who are facing these issues. I am trained in, and follow, WPATH’s Standards of Care and am happy to write letters of support for medical transition procedures and services for my clients.
