My approach to therapy is based on mutual appreciation. Through openness and acceptance, we can work together on personal issues and emotional situations you face. I support individuals in learning to heal their own suffering through discovery of the gentleness, warmth, wisdom, and compassion that is an innate capacity of all human beings. I enjoy working with people on their journeys and helping them to nurture their inner and outer worlds with kindness and awareness.
My practice is informed by cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic techniques, client-centered approach, as well as mindfulness, self-compassion, and Buddhist psychology. My clinical experience includes a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, spirituality, relationships, substance abuse, and gender identity.
I received a Master of Social Work and a Master of Divinity from the University of Chicago. I have also worked as a hospital chaplain and am familiar with contemplative practices in patient care. For several years now, I have facilitated a weekly meditation group as a way to promote growth and healing in our community. I am fluent in English and Chinese.
