Humor is something I like to incorporate into therapy; however, we can be serious about your concerns too. People of all ages struggle with the human universal of suffering and sometimes you need someone to sit with you in that, whether it be something you wish to change, or something that you cannot.
During my time working in college counseling, I supported students from a variety of backgrounds and found a lot of joy in helping students at a unique intersection in their lives. I was lucky to work with a diverse student population and supported many queer and trans folks in exploring their gender and sexual identities while also addressing other mental health concerns. In addition, I was able to support BIPOC students as they addressed systemic issues within the university, while also exploring their individual racial identities.
Like many other therapists, I was trained as a generalist so I can support you with things such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. Regarding my specific clinical background, I have experience supporting students navigating general anxiety and depression concerns as well as experience working with students who experienced complex and specific trauma, within romantic and familial relationships. I further co-facilitated a family-trauma group during my time at a university counseling center. Thus, I find that I greatly appreciate being able to sit with students who are addressing these concerns. A focus that I am passionate about is traumatic loss and grief. I have felt that some of my best work has been in this area. I worked with multiple students in individual therapy, within this realm of focus, while concomitantly co-facilitating a grief and loss support group during my work at a counseling center.
The systems we live within often teach us to feel alone in our suffering. I’m here to show you that this does not have to be the case. Our initial sessions will focus on finding what works best for you based upon your needs and goals.
