Nancy Ring
Inherent in change is distress. Even change we choose can be stressful. And asking for help may be just as difficult. Whether teaching or working with clients individually, I see therapy as a collaborative effort. From 30 years of practice, I've developed the skill of helping my client's conceptualize the obstacles to change, as well as how to overcome these obstacles for change.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, intensively trained in DBT and CFT, as well as a professor of DBT at Columbia University in the city of New York.
My practice approach is an integration of Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Compassion-Focused Therapy, which both use a mindfulness and skills-based approach to problem-solving and change, as well as to achieving a greater acceptance of oneself.
My style as a therapist is very interactive. I strive to offer a place of safety, validation, and understanding as we work to understand the patterns in place that may need addressing, as well as the process of change.
