Hello, I'm Nakia. How we respond or react to people, places, or things both personally and professionally can often be traced back to our past—past hurts, past experiences, past trauma, and more. These are indicators of whether we are merely surviving or truly thriving. The unhealed parts of our past impact our ability to respond while thriving, causing us to react in order to survive. How are your unhealed parts showing up?

In 2018, I graduated with a Master of Social Work degree concentrating in Public Health from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. As a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C), I completed a Doctorate in Metaphysics, to advance my knowledge and skills in the holistic approaches to healing therapies, and started my private practice, Insightfully You. I retired in May 2021 from active duty in the US Navy after over 20 years of honorable service, having served the last 6 years as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I (ADC I). During my service, I provided addictions treatment, therapy, and psycho-education to active duty members, military retirees, and other Tricare beneficiaries.

I specialize in working with diverse populations, treating issues such as anger management, ADHD, depression, family relationships, life transitions, military and veteran support, multicultural and diversity issues, intimate and romantic relationships, stress, trauma, addiction, and anxiety. My approach is to create a safe, non-judgmental space for you as you begin the healing process necessary to support positive change.

It would be an honor for me to work with you. Allow me to walk alongside you on your journey of self-discovery and healing while shifting from surviving to thriving. Together, we can explore your unhealed parts and work towards a more fulfilling and balanced life. Let's start this journey together.
