Melody Willoughby, Ph.D is a licensed psychologist (License #35S100604400) in the state of New Jersey. She completed her undergraduate study at Rutgers University where she majored in psychology, and both her Master’s and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (Health Emphasis) from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University in New York.
Dr. Willoughby has over 9 years of experience working with older adolescents and young adults primarily in outpatient settings such as college counseling and private practice. She utilizes various therapeutic modalities such as emotion-focused, interpersonal, and relational approaches and conceptualizes from psychodynamic and Rogerian frameworks. She believes that true growth is fostered by the therapeutic relationship and that a corrective emotional experience is key in healing past hurts. Her areas of clinical interest include issues related to interpersonal relationships, family struggles, and she has a specialization in working with young adults in the LGBTQ+ community.
Dr. Willoughby has a strong connection with the LGBTQ+ community and prides herself on making space in group therapy for deeper connections among its members. Whether questioning, coming out, or out and proud, Dr. Willoughby prioritizes giving love and support to LGBTQ+ folks wherever they are in their journey.
**I have some limited availability currently, with a few openings early afternoon Monday and potentially Thursday. I work remotely M-W and in office Thursdays.**
