Hello, I'm Melissa, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). I received my Master of Social Work in 1999 from Virginia Commonwealth University and earned my Bachelor of Social Work in 1995 with a minor in Family Issues from James Madison University. Over the years, I've had the privilege of working in a variety of treatment settings, including inpatient psychiatric care, foster care, medical environments, and school systems. This diverse experience has given me a unique versatility to help individuals navigating trauma, mental health challenges, life transitions, and other difficult situations.

My goal is to create an inviting, collaborative environment where we can focus on your personal growth and empowerment. I believe in the power of a strong therapeutic relationship and strive to build a space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. My primary therapeutic modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

I specialize in working with a wide range of issues, including ADHD, adolescent and teen mental/behavioral health, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, children's mental/behavioral health, depression, dissociative disorders, family relationships, grief/bereavement, life transitions, medical issues/physical health, military/veteran support, OCD, perinatal support (pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum), PTSD, sex/intimacy issues, spirituality, stress, trauma, and traumatic brain injury.

Working with me means embarking on a journey towards healing and self-discovery. Together, we will explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to uncover patterns and develop strategies that promote well-being and resilience. I am here to support you through every step of this process, providing a compassionate and non-judgmental space for you to grow.

If you're ready to take the next step towards a healthier, more fulfilling life, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to create the change you seek.
