Meiqi Liu, LCSW
My name is Maggie, I am a first-generation, queer, therapist who is fluent in Mandarin, English, as well as conversational Cantonese.
Perhaps you've experienced therapy that feels like "homework" or followed a set curriculum. Maybe you've even felt unseen, unheard, or your story treated in a way that does not fully honor what you had experienced. I have experienced first hand as a client and witnessed as a therapist how 'traditional' forms of therapy, with the therapist as the "expert/helper" to a "patient" can be unproductive and deeply harmful to the work of therapy. If that's been your experience as well, thank you for being here and willing to give therapy another try. I hope to have the opportunity to explore how we can make therapy feel like a safe space, together.
As a therapist, I enjoy working with teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, identity exploration, and loss. These topics hold significance to me as they often require exploration of some of the most complicated and vulnerable human experiences. These stories, thoughts, and emotions all deserve to be reflected upon with gentleness and safety in a therapeutic space. I believe that each person already carries the strength and wisdom needed to make sense of their story and move toward healing. My ultimate goal is to partner with you in reaching a place where you feel confident navigating life’s changes as your authentic self and to put myself out of a job.
