Maya Schmidt, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon and Colorado and I specialize in trauma therapy for teens, adults, and men. I have extensive experience supporting individuals impacted by sexual violence and other traumatic experiences, and I bring a thoughtful, collaborative approach to this work. I support clients in clearly identifying the changes they want from counseling and then tailor treatment to support those goals. I use evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches including EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Process Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT.

From the start, I share practical tools and education about how trauma affects the nervous system, emotions, relationships, and daily life. My practice is rooted in the belief that counseling should be a transparent and empowering process.

I place a high value on helping clients understand why certain approaches are used and how what they are learning in therapy can be applied to their lives beyond the counseling room. My goal is not only to support meaningful change, but also to help clients develop trust in their own ability to continue shaping the life they want long after therapy ends.
