Hello, I'm Marisa Jones. As a Licensed Professional Counselor certified by the Virginia Department of Health's Board of Counseling, I have dedicated my career to working with children, adolescents, and families. My approach to counseling is deeply collaborative, taking into account your life experiences, patterns, relationships, and beliefs that shape and influence your ways of being in the world. I believe in meeting my clients where they are, using a trauma-focused, holistic approach to guide our work together on the path to healing.

I utilize person-centered modalities to build a strong therapeutic relationship with you and/or your family member. By providing a safe and accepting environment, I aim to facilitate growth, insight, and change. Together, we will explore and identify challenges, working to determine the best approach for your unique needs.

In addition to my counseling practice, I serve as the Treasurer on the Board of the Virginia Association of Play Therapy and am working towards a credential as a Registered Play Therapist. My background includes extensive experience in both school and outpatient settings, where I have supported children and families through various challenges.

I hold a Master of Education (M.Ed.) and a Certificate in Advanced Counseling from the University of Lynchburg. My specialties include anxiety, children's mental and behavioral health, family relationships, grief and bereavement, multicultural and diversity issues, PTSD, adolescent and teen mental and behavioral health, and trauma. I also offer SonderMind Video Telehealth for those who prefer or require remote sessions.

I am here to support you and your family on your journey to well-being. If you're ready to take the next step, I invite you to reach out and start this journey together.
