Madeline (Maddi) DeBoer holds her Masters of Social Work and is licensed in both Iowa and Alabama. Maddi specializes in working with clients who struggle with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and related disorders such as body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), which include hair-pulling and skin-picking (trichotillomania and excoriation disorder). Maddi has pursued specialized training in the treatment of BFRBs through the TLC Foundation for BFRBs, and is the only provider in Iowa (and one of two in Alabama) who has pursued this advanced training. She also works with those with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), anxiety related to life adjustments and stressors, and specific phobias. She strives to deliver compassionate and effective treatment to clients using evidenced-based approaches.
Maddi received her B.S. in psychology at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul and her M.A. in social work from the University of Northern Iowa, where she extensively studied trauma-informed and evidenced-based practices. She completed her master’s-level internships at St. Luke’s Hospital and Tanager Place in Cedar Rapids, IA. Since she received her license and degree, Maddi has worked in a variety of clinical settings running partial hospitalization and therapy groups and practicing individual and family therapy. She made the transition to a private group practice a year ago and thrives in helping clients find ways to successfully manage their specific anxieties. Maddi is also a certified yoga teacher.
