You are here because you wonder if things can be different or better. You feel like you aren’t living up to your full potential. Maybe you have noticed that your life or relationships could be filled with more joy and peace. You may be long overdue to heal from past events that have continued to interfere with your quality of life. Life is full of challenges. Therapy can provide structure around how to face, address, and overcome those challenges.
I am non judgmental and work to establish a trusting, collaborative relationship with my clients. Neuroscience, CBT, mindfulness, and attachment theory inform my practice. I view most difficulties through a lens of emotional regulation needs and work with clients to identify their individual formula for regulation. I utilize Exposure Therapy and Response Prevention to help clients address ongoing anxiety. I also offer Written Exposure Therapy to address PTSD and distressing and interfering trauma-related symptoms.
I believe that empathy, courage, and compassion are the paths to caring for the self and others and crucial to learning to live a meaningful life. There is research that supports the power of self-compassion to improving individual well-being. I also believe in working to address social injustices in addition to working with individuals in my practice because social injustices are connected to the pain and suffering which occurs in many individuals who are trying to heal in counseling.
