I have a set of tools that can help you live a fuller life, one with more depth and vitality. Many people I work with have been in therapy before and learned cognitive or mindfulness skills that, while helpful, don't seem to go deep enough. Maybe this is true for you, too--in spite of all your best efforts, you still feel anxious and depressed, struggle with obsessive thoughts, or feel stuck in old patterns.
I can help you get to the root of your problems instead of just looking at the surface-level symptoms. Together, we can uncover the reasons for these feelings and experiences and we can practice new ways of approaching your problems so that you can move forward.
My extensive training in depth-oriented psychotherapy has set me up well to work with a wide range of people and concerns. Because I'm fundamentally interested in the human condition, I try not to limit myself too much when it comes to who or what I work with. That said, I particularly love working with young adults, gender and sexuality, religious and spiritual concerns, relationship issues, family of origin issues, and immigrants and children of immigrants, particularly Arab and Muslim people. (For a more extensive list, visit my website!)
I can help you become an expert on yourself. My goal is to put you into deep contact with your inner world so that you come to know and experience yourself in a new way. Understanding yourself better can help you become more flexible in how you respond to life's ups and downs, reclaim your power to build the life you want for yourself, and feel more fully alive.
I will listen without judgment to whatever you have to say. I strive to see and understand not only who my clients are now, but who they have been, and who they are in the process of becoming. I strive to help my clients regain their vitality and sense of being fully alive. If you would like to talk, please reach out for a consultation.
In case you're curious, here's some background on me and my training.
I have Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and French. During my undergraduate studies, I emphasized courses in neuroscience and literature. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, during which I emphasized LGBTQ+ mental health and women's issues. Most recently, I completed a two-year intensive postgraduate training program in advanced psychoanalytic psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. Before I was a therapist, I held jobs as a medical interpreter and a cultural liaison for international students.
My background in studying psychology, neuroscience, research methods, and the human mind combines with the my background in literature, language, culture, and the human spirit to give me a well-rounded and nuanced approach as a therapist.
