How many times have you heard, “These are the best years of your life”?
And who says this? [Hint: adults who went to college many years ago.]
But if you ask a college student, there’s a good chance they will talk more about anxiety or depression than enjoying the best years of their life. According to the American College Health Association’s 2018 study, 63 percent of college students said they had “felt overwhelming anxiety” and more than 41 percent said they had felt so depressed that it was “difficult to function” in the past year.
You might need help if you are experiencing intense sadness, hopelessness, irritability or frustration, loss of interest or pleasure in things, compromised sleep (too little or too much), lack of energy, changes in appetite, anxiety, feelings of worthlessness, trouble concentrating or making decisions, suicidal ideation or attempts, or unexplained physical problems.
I will listen carefully and we will collaborate to work out a plan that meets your needs.
I can provide you with paperwork for reimbursement from your insurance company if you are seeking out-of-network sessions.
