Kristy Nimz, owner of The Hopeful Reprieve
Welcome! Life can feel heavy when anxiety, depression, or stress make it difficult to feel grounded or hopeful. Maybe you've been managing everything on your own for a long time and are ready for a change. Reaching out for help is a brave first step--and it's one that you don't have to take alone. My goal is to provide a safe, compassionate space where you can process what's weighing on you and begin to move toward meaningful, lasting change.
A bit about me: I received my B.A. in Psychology from Elizabethtown College in 2004, and later earned my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Centenary College in 2009. Over the years, I’ve worked in a variety of roles—from outreach caseworker supporting adults with chronic and severe mental health diagnoses, to intensive in-home clinician helping at-risk youth and their families stabilize and thrive. I became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey in 2015 and am also a Nationally Certified Counselor through the NBCC.
I take a client-centered approach to therapy, meaning your values, goals, and needs will always guide our work together. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills, and mindfulness practices to help clients manage anxiety, depression, and stress more effectively. My style is collaborative, supportive, and focused on helping you build tools for resilience, clarity, and self-compassion.
As both a clinician and a parent of two young children, I understand how life's transitions and responsibilities can impact emotional well-being. I often work with clients around parenting challenges, relationship stress, boundary setting, and work-life balance.
