Hello, I'm Kevin. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My approach to therapy often includes humor and stories to help you see your concerns from a different perspective. I focus on building on your strengths and using positive self-talk to foster change. I tailor my dialogue and treatment plans to meet your unique needs because I understand that it takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life. My goal is to support and empower you on your journey towards change.
I hold a Doctor of Ministry degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor. My professional journey has taken me through various roles, including working in a church setting, private practice, and the Department of Corrections. Currently, I work as a counselor for LifeStance Health in St. Peter's, Missouri, both in-office and online, and remotely for Rula and SonderMind.
I specialize in helping clients with depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, anger management, communication skills building, coping with life changes, relationship issues, grief and loss, self-esteem, and stress. I have significant experience working with individuals dealing with grief and relationship challenges. Additionally, I am experienced in addressing aging and geriatric issues, cancer, and providing hospice and end-of-life counseling.
My clinical approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Family Systems. I am also available for Christian-based counseling, so please let me know if this is something you are interested in.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, gardening, improving my woodworking skills, and working outside on various projects. I retired as a pastor of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in September 2022 and began my second career as a counselor. Since January 2024, I have been serving the pastoral vacancy at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jonesburg, MO, and since September 21, 2024, I have been serving Trinity Lutheran Church in Wellsville, MO, for their Saturday night service.
Colleagues often describe me as quick-witted and a pleasure to work with. They appreciate my ability to find joy in day-to-day tasks and my willingness to listen, even when I have a stack of notes to write. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you on your path to a better life.
