Kenzie Langford
You are 20 and you have already cried in three different bathrooms this semester. The friend group from freshman year quietly disappeared. The situationship is in its eighth round of "we are figuring it out." The professor who said your paper was "interesting" in a tone that meant something else has been living in your head for two weeks. You are tired in a way that sleep does not fix.
I work with college aged women and young adults who are doing everything they were told to do and somehow feel further from themselves than they have ever been. The girls who got into college on perfectionism and are now watching that same perfectionism eat them alive. The ones who left a religious or controlling home and are realizing, in real time, what it actually cost them. The ones whose body image got worse, not better, when they got here. The ones who keep ending up in the same kind of relationship with a different person and cannot figure out why. The ones who looked around the dining hall and realized everyone else seems to have a friend group already and felt something crack a little.
I do EMDR for trauma, which is the work I love most. It is especially useful when something specific from your past keeps showing up uninvited in your present. The breakup that should not still hurt this much. The thing that happened in high school you have never really told anyone. The childhood version of you who learned to make herself small and is still doing it.
We can also just talk. My process is flexible and so am I. Some sessions are heavy. Some sessions you tell me about your week and we laugh. Both are doing real work.
I am licensed in Oklahoma, Texas, and Massachusetts. If you are at school in one and home for the summer in another, we can keep going without starting over with someone new.
