Hello, I'm Kem, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in both California and the Washington DC area. I hold a B.A. and M.Ed. from Kent State University and had the enriching experience of studying abroad at Oxford University in England. Over the years, I've had the privilege of providing mental and behavioral health services to a diverse range of individuals, couples, and families in various settings, including schools, homes, and communities.
My journey has allowed me to work with foster care systems, adolescent mothers of color through the 'Moms and Babies' program in Los Angeles, and immigrant families from countries such as Ethiopia, Eritrea, Ghana, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Armenia, and Iran. Additionally, I've supported refugee populations seeking asylum and provided clinical care to victims of discrimination and abuse within the LGBT community, as well as those affected by national and local gang violence.
I specialize in addressing intimate and romantic relationships, anxiety, depression, family dynamics, multicultural and diversity issues, spirituality, and trauma. My approach is rooted in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a deep commitment to understanding each client's unique story. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, and work towards healing and growth.
Working with me means you'll have a compassionate partner dedicated to supporting you through life's challenges. Whether you're navigating relationship issues, dealing with anxiety or depression, or seeking to understand your cultural or spiritual identity, I'm here to help you find clarity and resilience.
I look forward to supporting you in any way I can. Please feel free to reach out, and let's take the first step towards your well-being together.
