Hello, I'm Karen Pender. I create a safe and respectful space where you can share your innermost thoughts, emotions, and feelings without judgment or blame. My goal is to empower you to cope with stress, build resilience, and reclaim your agency and dignity through evidence-based and culturally appropriate interventions. Together, we will address the root causes of trauma and promote healing and wellness in your life.
I provide psychotherapeutic services to clients aged 18 to 85, including individual therapy, group therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy. While my target population is BIPOC females experiencing anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem due to unresolved trauma, I welcome anyone seeking support. I see myself as your accountability partner, confidence builder, and overall encourager, helping you set and achieve your goals.
There may have been events or experiences in your life that shook your confidence and have you playing small or not functioning at your best. By working together, we can address those challenges head-on. I use a mix of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and mindfulness to assist you in navigating life's challenges.
I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from Strayer University and a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. With nine years of experience in the mental health field, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2018. Additionally, I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor, training and developing up-and-coming mental health professionals.
If you're ready to take the next step towards healing and wellness, I'm here to support you. Let's work together to help you build the life you deserve.
